INTRODUCTION: Tibialis posterior tendon insufficiency in adult acquired flat foot deformity (AAFFD) is treated by reinforcing the posterior tibial tendon (PTT) using grafts from flexor hallucis longus (FHL) and flexor digitorum longus (FDL). The communication between FHL and FDL will influence the length of the graft that can be harvested from FHL and FDL. A bifurcated periosteal flap is useful for simultaneous reconstruction of the upper and lower lateral canthal tendons. We present 2 cases that demonstrate the potential for tendon involvement in the presence of a carpal boss. In the first, a patient presented with tendon rupture without antecedent pain. In the second, pain and tendon irritation prompted magnetic resonance imaging that revealed tendon fraying, which was confirmed at surgery. These cases illustrate the potential for tendinous sequelae of a carpal boss. Advanced imaging may be considered when tendon irritation is clinically suspected. BACKGROUND: We report a case of a 27-year-old (male) patient with bilateral and simultaneous rupture of the triceps tendons. He was suffering from chronic renal failure secondary to acute glomerulonephritis and for 4 years he underwent maintenance hemodialysis three times a week. This injury is extremely rare, and only one case has been reported in the international literature. Based on previous cases of tendon ruptures in patients with chronic renal failure, we believe that secondary hyperparathyroidism is the primary causative factor in his case.

A new method for secondary operative treatment of subcutaneous ruptures of the extensor tendons in the DIP-joint region is described. A step-cut incision is performed in the area of the regenerative tissue and the adjacent original tendon. The sutures in the longitudinal incision line compensate the tension and give better anchoring. First results show a tendency to an improved relationship between pre- and postoperative extension lag compared to other methods. Also, the method is an improvement from the aesthetical point of view and in operative practicability.

Heterotopic ossification (HO) occurs in spinal cord injury (SCI), most frequently in the large joints such as hips, shoulders, knees, and elbows. It always occurs below the level of neurologic lesion. In the upper extremities, HO associated with SCI usually involves the flexor side of the involved joint.
