Fragility fractures of the pelvis: First 48 cases of surgical treatment at a level 1 trauma center in France.

INTRODUCTION: Longer life expectancy is accompanied by a higher incidence of fragility fractures of the pelvis (FFP), which has repercussions on mortality and nursing home admissions. Given the paucity of data at French healthcare facilities, we carried out a retrospective study to (1) evaluate how surgical treatment of FFP with posterior displacement (type III and IV according to Rommens and Hofmann) affects a patient's pain, functional status and ability to stay at home and (2) evaluate the postoperative complications and mortality rate. HYPOTHESIS: Surgery for posteriorly displaced FFP wil

Methadone clinic staff perceptions of trauma-informed and patient-centered care: the role of individual staff characteristics.

BACKGROUND: U.S. policy intervention to increase methadone treatment accommodations during COVID did not result in national adoption of the new patient-centered treatment practices. Staff-level interventions may facilitate adoption of these treatment practices, but this will depend upon knowledge about staff level characteristics and beliefs. Currently, the role of clinic staff characteristics, beliefs about patient-centeredness, and perceptions about the need for treatment practice change is unknown. This study explored the relationship between opioid treatment program staff characteristics,

Ten-Year Analysis of Complications Related to Simple Basilar Skull Fractures in Children Presenting to a Trauma Center.

OBJECTIVES: Head trauma is a common presenting complaint among children requiring urgent medical attention, accounting for more than 600,000 emergency department (ED) visits annually, 4% to 30% of which identify skull fractures among the patient's injuries. Previous literature shows that children with basilar skull fractures (BSFs) are usually admitted for observation. We studied whether children with an isolated BSF have complications precluding them from safe discharge home from the ED. METHODS: We performed a retrospective review of ED patients aged 0 to 18 years given a simple BSF diagnos
