Exploring Family Interactions: Heterogeneity in Family Specific Network Models.

Daily family interactions have a profound impact on children's emotional and behavioral development. While extensive research highlights the detrimental effects of negative parenting practices and the benefits of positive parenting programs, less is known about the complex within-family interactions that occur on a day-to-day basis. Using 5 weeks of daily diary data from 43 mothers (MObservations per dyad = 140.44, SD = 1.05) aged 33-53 years and their children aged 6-14 years, this paper explored the heterogeneity of family-specific networks and their links to parental self-efficacy (PSE) as

Xenobiotic exposure may confound traditional stress biomarkers: evaluating perfluoropentanoic acid and cadmium effects on largemouth bass (Micropterus nigricans) leukocyte profiles.

Understanding how contaminants influence physiological stress is vital for conserving aquatic organisms in increasingly altered environments. We examined whether exposure to cadmium (Cd) or perfluoropentanoic acid (PFPeA)-a short-chain per- and polyfluoroalkyl substance-altered neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratios (NLRs) in largemouth bass (Micropterus nigricans) under controlled laboratory conditions. Using NLR as a leukocyte-based biomarker associated with physiological stress responses, we compared five groups (control, Cd low, Cd high, PFPeA low, PFPeA high) across four sampling periods (baseli

Unveiling Guest Structure and Hydrogen Bonding in Cyclohexanemethanol Clathrate Hydrates.

Clathrate hydrates are crystalline inclusion compounds traditionally described as host-guest systems stabilized predominantly by van der Waals interactions. Recent studies, however, have shown that polar guest molecules can engage in weak and transient hydrogen bonding with the hydrate water framework, challenging this classical picture. Here, we report cyclohexanemethanol as a new structure H hydrate former in a binary system with methane and elucidate its guest-host interaction behavior at the molecular level. 13C NMR spectroscopy, Raman spectroscopy, and powder X-ray diffraction confirm the

Structural optimization of natural plant products: Construction and insecticidal activities study of eugenol's derivatives.

Crop pests are major biotic threats to agriculture and posing continuous challenges to global food security. Natural products provide valuable templates for pesticide discovery, and rational structural modification can enhance their potency, stability, and safety. In this study, a series of eugenol derivatives were synthesized and evaluated for insecticidal activity. Compound 3r showed remarkable toxicity against S. frugiperda (the LD50 value of contact toxicity and stomach toxicity were 0.079 mg /larva and 0.501 mg/mL, respectively.), 6.0-fold and 4.4-fold stronger than eugenol, and exhibited

Relationship Value, Emotion, and Uncertainty Shape Conflict-Resolution Communication in a Wild Primate.

Studying how nonhuman primates tailor signals and behavioral patterns to resolve ingroup conflicts provides insight into the evolution of communicative and behavioral complexity in conflict management. Here, we explore how, in wild geladas, primates with a uniquely rich vocal-visual repertoire, aggressors and victims take into account relationship value, perceived risk and uncertainty, emotional dynamics, and audience and external factors when producing nonaggressive signals after conflicts. We found that reconciliation in the study groups occurred rapidly, was mainly initiated by aggressors,

Altered Temporal dynamics of resting-state EEG microstates as a neural signature of impaired consciousness: a high-density EEG analysis in chronic disorders of consciousness.

PRIMARY OBJECTIVE: To differentiate Unresponsive Wakefulness Syndrome (UWS) from Minimally Conscious State (MCS) using EEG microstates. RESEARCH DESIGN: Retrospective analysis of high-density resting-state EEG. METHODS AND PROCEDURES: We analyzed EEG from 20 UWS, 22 MCS patients, and 20 controls. Microstate topographies were clustered into four canonical classes. To prevent machine learning data leakage, a fixed, label-independent template basis derived solely from healthy controls was utilized for back-fitting across all individuals. After optimizing template back-fitting and systematically

Diagnosis of Respiratory Infections Using Syndromic Panels: A Ct-Based Approach Beyond Qualitative Detection.

This retrospective study, conducted between September 2023 and October 2025, evaluated age-related pathogen prevalence, seasonal dynamics, and Cycle threshold (Ct) values in nasopharyngeal specimens from hospitalized subjects with suspected acute respiratory infections (ARIs) using the multiplex syndromic panel. A median-based Delta Ct was calculated to define pathogen dominance in co-detections. A total of 2479 nasopharyngeal swabs were analyzed and 54.4% tested positive for at least one pathogen. Overall, the positivity rate and co-detections were found to be significantly higher in pediatri

Single particle cryo-EM analysis of the Rhodospirillum rubrum encapsulin nanocompartment shows variable loading of encapsulated ferritin cargo proteins and differences in the fivefold pore.

Encapsulins are self-assembling protein nanocompartments found in bacteria and archaea that encapsulate cargo enzymes to protect the cell from their toxic reaction products or intermediates. Developments in cryo-electron microscopy (cryo-EM) data processing strategies have enabled encapsulins and their cargo proteins to be investigated together in greater detail. In this study, we present the single particle cryo-EM structure of the Rhodospirillum rubrum encapsulin in both the presence and absence of its partner encapsulated ferritin (EncFtn). Single particle icosahedral reconstructions of emp

"I Know How to Take Care of Myself.": Composite Narratives Among Rural Black Women Coping with Structural Inequities.

The rural mental health crisis is especially pronounced in Black women who are overburdened with social inequities. Persistent poverty and gendered racial microaggressions (GRM) are structural determinants that contribute to the disparities in Black women's health outcomes. Using the Africultural framework and a community-based, qualitative approach, this study illustrates the coping strategies of rural Black women who experience structural inequities. Participants included Black American, rural women in the Alabama Black Belt region. A community meeting (n = 1) was held with 38 participants,

Spatiotemporal visualization of long-range anisotropic plasmon polaritons in hyperbolic MoOCl2.

Manipulating light at the nanoscale with minimal loss remains a central challenge for nanophotonic technologies that can be tackled by using the direction-dependent polariton modes supported by anisotropic materials. Although best known for their highly confined polaritons, hyperbolic materials can also host long-range directional polaritons, whose direct observation has remained challenging as it requires experimental techniques that combine nanometer and femtosecond spatial and temporal resolution, respectively. Here, we use time-resolved photoemission electron microscopy for direct nanoscal

High-Throughput Sequencing-Assisted Microbial Profiling and Koch's Postulates Validation Identify Fusarium pernambucanum as the Causal Agent of Fruit Rot in Idesia polycarpa.

Idesia polycarpa is an economically important tree species valued for urban greening and oil production owing to its oil-rich fruits and high levels of unsaturated fatty acids. The increasing incidence of fruit diseases has become a major constraint on its cultivation; however, the microbial dynamics during disease progression and the primary causal agent remain unclear. In this study, diseased fruits were collected from Sichuan Province, China, a region with frequent disease outbreaks, and categorized into five disease stages based on symptom severity, including initial infection (S1), advanc

Unveiling the Molecular Mechanisms of Bisphenol-Induced Olfactory Toxicity in Zebrafish.

Bisphenol analogues, including bisphenol F (BPF) and bisphenol S (BPS), are increasingly used as alternatives to bisphenol A (BPA), yet their potential olfactory effects remain poorly understood. In this study, adult zebrafish (Danio rerio) were exposed to environmentally relevant concentrations (5 μg/L) of BPF and BPS for 28 days to investigate their impacts on the olfactory system. Histopathological assessment revealed changes in olfactory epithelial morphology, particularly in the BPF-exposed group. Transcriptomic analysis identified 3260 and 1602 differentially expressed genes in BPF and B

Complex atypical caregiving: navigating the margins of unique caregiver roles and burdens.

The incidence and prevalence of Alzheimer's disease and related dementias (ADRDs) significantly impact care recipients, caregivers, and broader society. Most caregivers of ADRD care recipients are family members. These informal caregivers often experience health, emotional, and practical difficulties in their roles as informal caregivers of loved ones with ADRDs. Most family caregivers are adult children or spouses of ADRD care recipients. Complex atypical caregiver roles may include role reversal, unique caregiving dynamics, or multiple roles. For example, these roles may include a minor chil

Autoimmune hepatitis with negative antinuclear antibody and normal early-phase IgG: diagnosis supported by histology, IgG dynamics, and steroid responsiveness.

Autoimmune hepatitis (AIH) with negative anti-nuclear antibody (ANA) has been reported to frequently exhibit acute clinical and histological features. We herein report a case of asymptomatic AIH with negative ANA, normal early-phase immunoglobulin G (IgG) levels, and chronic histological features. A 49-year-old asymptomatic female was found to have elevated liver enzymes during a routine health check. Liver biopsy demonstrated portal-predominant lymphoplasmacytic infiltrates with interface hepatitis, compatible with chronic AIH. Despite compatible histology, the simplified criteria yielded "un
