BACKGROUND: Unicompartmental knee arthroplasty (UKA) is increasingly performed in younger and more active patients. Therefore, there are expectations relating to a return-to-sport. Downhill skiing is a physically demanding sport associated with substantial joint loading and risk of injury. There is a lack of high-quality evidence regarding a return to downhill skiing following medial or lateral UKA. This systematic review evaluates the available evidence regarding return to downhill skiing following either medial or lateral UKA.

BACKGROUND: Post-stroke hemiparesis commonly reduces mobility, limiting daily activities and participation. Objective monitoring, such as step counting, quantifies real-world ambulatory activity, while patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs) capture perceived functional performance. The Lower Extremity Motor Activity Log (LE-MAL), translated into Portuguese, assesses self-reported use of the more affected lower limb.
OBJECTIVE: To examine the criterion-related validity of the LE-MAL by evaluating its association with step counts obtained from triaxial accelerometry activity monitors.

BACKGROUND: Post-intervention follow-up is challenging in research and practice. In tobacco reports, patients with missing follow-up were considered smokers. Based on patient and staff preferences, an add-on intensified follow-up procedure after intensive tobacco and nicotine cessation interventions was developed. This study examined the impact of the new procedure on patients lost to follow-up and compared their cessation status with that of those who completed routine follow-up.
METHODS: Between January and February 2023, 2114 patients participated in the Danish STOPbase for Tobacco and Nic

Accuracy in dose delivery in brachytherapy treatments is a critical component for clinical success and patient safety, requiring a rigorous quality assurance system. The implementation of external dosimetric audits plays a fundamental role in verifying the planned and delivered doses, allowing the identification of discrepancies that could compromise tumor control or increase toxicity in healthy tissues, as well as ensuring compliance with national and international recommendations and standards. This work presents the development and validation of a methodology for external auditing in high-d

Background/Objectives: Distal biceps tendon rupture (DBTR) significantly impairs upper-limb function, particularly in movements requiring elbow flexion and forearm supination. This condition continues to attract clinical interest due to its complex biomechanics, evolving surgical strategies, and the growing emphasis on comprehensive rehabilitation. Contemporary evidence highlights the value of a multidisciplinary approach that integrates precise surgical repair with structured, progressive physiotherapy to optimize outcomes effectively. Methods: We performed a comprehensive review of the liter

OBJECTIVES: Patients with RA are at an increased risk for serious infections, but less is known about more common, non-serious infections. We aimed to assess the frequency and characteristics of non-serious infections and their effect on medication interruptions, quality of life, and disease flares.
METHODS: We remotely recruited adults with RA from July 2022 to July 2023 through a community rheumatology practice-based research network. Participants joined the ArthritisPower Registry (now PatientSpot) and completed a baseline survey and up to six monthly follow-up surveys, focused on patient-

BACKGROUND: Fecal incontinence (FI) affects up to 50% of patients with systemic sclerosis (SSc), significantly impairing quality of life and daily functioning. Despite its prevalence, patients may not disclose their symptoms and there is limited guidance on evaluation and management. Given the complexity of SSc and delays in gastroenterology referrals, rheumatologists often initiate care. To address this gap, an expert panel was convened to develop practical, consensus-based recommendations for assessing and managing SSc-FI.
METHODS: An international Steering Board (n=19) was assembled under

BACKGROUND: Hip dysplasia is a common cause of hip-related pain in young adults. Hip dysplasia is frequently overlooked by clinicians, leading to delayed diagnosis and subsequent adverse outcomes, including debilitating pain, functional impairments, and poor quality of life. Diagnosing hip dysplasia is often challenging due to its variable clinical presentation, its overlap with other conditions, and the absence of standard diagnostic criteria. Despite these challenges, an emerging body of research provides valuable insight into the management of hip dysplasia. CLINICAL QUESTION: How can new a

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE: Primary traumatic anterior shoulder dislocations are common and can have long-term personal implications for quality of life and the use of the arm for occupational activities and sport participation. A patient care pathway has been reported to contribute to improved quality of care and a reduction in re-dislocations. We developed clinical practice guidelines intended to provide healthcare professionals with an updated pathway for the optimal diagnosis and management of traumatic primary anterior shoulder dislocations.
METHODS: The clinical practice guidelines were dev

BACKGROUND AND AIM: Elevated lipoprotein(a) [Lp(a)] contributes to coronary artery disease (CAD). This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of cascade screening for elevated Lp(a) in patients with CAD.
METHODS: Lp(a)-based cascade screening in first-degree relatives (FDR) and second-degree relatives (SDR) of index patients with CAD was performed. Index patients were recruited into pre-defined Lp(a) strata: low (<70 nmol/L), moderately elevated (70-169 nmol/L), and elevated (≥170 nmol/L). Proportions of elevated Lp(a) in relatives were determined within each index stratum, and participat

INTRODUCTION: Long-term follow-up after low-dose rate brachytherapy and ultra-fractionated radiotherapy for localised prostate cancer has demonstrated impressive survival statistics with low toxicity profiles. Superiority between the two treatments has not been shown, with a lack of randomised data comparing the two. Emerging studies have shown a benefit of adding a rectal spacer gel to sit between the prostate and anterior rectal wall to further reduce toxicity following radiotherapeutic treatments. Further randomised studies are, however, recommended to support this data. To the best of our

INTRODUCTION: Parents play a pivotal role in a child's or adolescent's recovery from anorexia nervosa (AN). However, they often experience substantial psychological distress that may limit their ability to support treatment effectively. Structured psychoeducation may help parents understand the illness and treatment process and may support treatment engagement in young people with AN. This uncontrolled pre-post evaluation examined parental psychological distress, self-perceived knowledge and competence, and post-intervention satisfaction with a brief psychoeducational group program.

BACKGROUND: Exercise rehabilitation plays a critical role in promoting functional recovery after stroke. However, stroke patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) face additional challenges, including motor impairments, vascular lesions, and diabetic peripheral neuropathy, which may increase their susceptibility to kinesiophobia. Despite this, studies using latent profile analysis (LPA) to characterize kinesiophobia in this patient population remain limited. This study aimed to investigate the prevalence and latent subtypes of kinesiophobia among stroke patients with T2DM and to identify f

BACKGROUND: In Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, multidisciplinary round tables bring together stakeholders from the healthcare sector to jointly develop and advance solutions for regional care challenges on a semi-annual basis. In a sparsely populated state with distinct structural and service-related difficulties, these collaborative formats play a key role in improving discharge management. Against this backdrop, the present study explores the main fields of action required to enhance discharge processes in rural areas of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. It aims to prioritise the key challenges,
