PURPOSE: Autologous buccal mucosa is commonly utilized in the surgical treatment of urethral strictures. Extensive strictures require a larger quantity of tissue, which may lead to donor site morbidity. This review assesses progress in producing tissue engineered buccal mucosa as an alternative graft material.

Paul Louis Tessier is recognized as the father of craniofacial surgery. While his story and pivotal contributions to the development of the multidisciplinary practice of craniofacial surgery are much highlighted in plastic surgery literature, they are seldom directly discussed in the context of neurosurgeons. His life and legacy to craniosynostosis and neurosurgery are explored in the present paper.

BACKGROUND: Resulting from an early fusion of the sagittal suture, scaphocephaly (SC) is the most frequent form of all craniosynostosis and represents 40-60% of all cases. The scope of this study is to describe the first series of Renier's 'H' technique to be applied in children with SC outside of France.

Numerous surgical procedures are available for the treatment of stress urinary incontinence in women and men. On a par with classical therapy options (e.g. colposuspension and artificial sphincter prosthesis) suburethral tape procedures have become established as the minimally invasive standard of care. Regarding comorbidities and recurrent urinary incontinence, therapeutic procedures should be modified on an individual basis. It is crucial to involve patients in therapeutic decision-making and counseling should be given with respect to all conservative and operative alternatives.

OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to present a case of a successful re-implantation of an amputated auricle following a human bite using the Baudet technique.
METHODS: Case report and review of the literature.
RESULTS: The patient had a very satisfactory postoperative result in terms of appearance and function of the reattached auricle. Cartilage loss was minimal.

METHODS: From 2009 to 2013, 13 upper eyelids with meibomian gland carcinoma (13 patients, age range 52-78 years) were excised, and immediately reconstructed with a pedicled lower lid-sharing flap used for full-thickness upper eyelid defects (up to two-thirds of the eyelid width). Various facial reanimation procedures can be performed for treating patients with chronic facial nerve paralysis.
