OBJECTIVE: To classify the inner ear anomalies of cochlear implantees with profound sensorineural hearing loss.
STUDY DESIGN: Retrospective case review.
SETTING: Tertiary referral center.
PATIENTS: For the normative data of the inner ear structures, the temporal bone computed tomography of 60 patients (120 ears) with normal bone-conduction threshold (< 15 dB) were used, and the data were applied to 570 ears of 285 cochlear implantees.
INTERVENTIONS: Predesignated inner ear structures were measured in temporal bone computed tomography images from the normal and cochlear implantation groups

We provide an approach to evaluating sealing supraglottic airways by using a classification based on a sealing mechanism. Three main sealing mechanisms are identified, thus defining three groups: cuffed perilaryngeal sealers, cuffed pharyngeal sealers, and uncuffed anatomically preshaped sealers. We provide a brief overview of supraglottic airways and present a scoring system that is relevant to particular requirements. Scoring airways for routine applications is the example provided.

A broad histomorphologic spectrum of ampullary carcinomas of Vater make a reproducible histologic classification difficult. Using cytokeratin immunohistochemistry, we present a new classification of ampullary carcinomas and analyze their clinical significance. The Wigglesworth pathophysiological classification was used to analyse perinatal deaths occurring in 5 health centres in Bangladesh. The resolving power of imaging systems used in the diagnosis of cutaneous malignant melanoma is usually presented in the literature in terms of numerical values, yet it is often difficult for the reader to ascertain what tangible information these systems are extracting. This paper presents a classification system of two aspects of imaging systems that allows rapid appraisal of the resolution of the different imaging systems used in the diagnosis of melanoma and the additional clinical information they reveal.
