Gas adsorption experiments have been carried out on a copper benzene tricarboxylate metal-organic framework material, HKUST-1. Hydrogen adsorption at 1 and 10 bar (both 77 K) gives an adsorption capacity of 11.16 mmol H2 per g of HKUST-1 (22.7 mg g(-)1, 2.27 wt %) at 1 bar and 18 mmol per g (36.28 mg g(-)1, 3.6 wt %) at 10 bar. The influence of Ni2+, Cd2+ and Cu2+ on electron transport system (ETS) activity of anaerobic 2-chlorophenon degradation sludge, as well as the effect of acclimation on microbial resistance to metallic toxicity, was investigated. The seasonal and spatial fluctuations of heavy metals in the liver of the frog Rana ridibunda from a river in Western Ukraine were investigated. Liver weight was seen to increase from spring to summer/autumn, most probably as a result of accumulation of metabolites, especially fat and glycogen. BACKGROUND: Cholangitis is a major complication after metallic stent placement to treat biliary obstruction, and it may impair quality of life. Whether transpapillary stent placement contributes cholangitis is still controversial.
OBJECTIVES: The present study aimed to determine risk factors for acute cholangitis after metallic biliary stent placement.

The allergenicity and the cross-reactivity of naphthenic acid (NA) and its metallic salts were evaluated in experimental animals. In the guinea pig maximization test, sensitizing skin reactions were observed with cobalt naphthenate (CoN), zinc naphthenate (ZnN) and NA, but not with copper naphthenate, with CoN being the most potent sensitizer.
