Differential mechanisms of continuous theta burst stimulation and low-frequency repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation for chronic tinnitus: preliminary efficacy dissociation by local focalization vs. network dispersion.

OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to preliminarily compare clinical efficacy and neural mechanisms of continuous theta-burst stimulation (cTBS) and low-frequency repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) targeting the auditory cortex in chronic subjective tinnitus. Differential effects on tinnitus loudness and distress, as well as the moderating role of disease duration, were explored. METHODS: Twenty-nine patients were randomly assigned to cTBS (n = 16) or rTMS (n = 13) groups. Neuronavigation-guided stimulation was applied to the individualized auditory cortex peak activation site. Outc

Comparison of the Relationships Between Body Size and Cardiorespiratory Fitness With High Frequency Head-Motion Contamination in fMRI.

Functional MRI (fMRI) is widely used to assess brain function, but neural-derived fMRI signals are susceptible to contamination from in-scanner head motion. Preprocessing pipelines often regress out and censor head motion artifacts using six rigid-body motion parameters. However, recent research suggests these head-motion estimates are susceptible to contamination from other sources of noise, such as respiratory rate, body size, and estimated cardiorespiratory fitness (eCRF), that correspond to apparent head motion at higher frequencies (HF-motion; > 0.1 Hz). Thus, these health variables are t

Toward reliable computer-aided brain tumor diagnosis: a contrast-enhanced deep learning approach with hybrid KNN classification.

Timely and accurate diagnosis of brain tumors using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is a major concern in neuro-oncology because of the potential effects of delayed and inconsistent radiological diagnoses on the management of such diseases. Manual analysis of MRIs is time-consuming and highly susceptible to observer variations; thus, there is a need for computer-based and more consistent diagnostic processes. In this study, an automatic diagnostic process based on deep learning was proposed using multiscale contrast enhancement along with lightweight convolutional features and classifiers for

Multimodal EEG-HRV assessment of individual regulatory patterns: a perturbation-based approach toward precision psychiatry.

BACKGROUND: Contemporary psychiatric research increasingly emphasizes the need for objective, biologically grounded markers to complement symptom-based diagnostic frameworks. While electroencephalography (EEG) has been widely used to investigate neural dynamics associated with attention, arousal, and cognitive control, these approaches are typically brain-centric and rely on static or resting-state paradigms. Integration of autonomic dynamics remains limited despite theoretical models highlighting brain-body interactions. METHODS: In the present pilot study, we employed a multimodal, perturba

Adverse events signals of enzyme replacement drugs of Gaucher disease: insights from FAERS database analysis.

AIM: This study aims to investigate and compare the post-marketing safety profiles of three widely used enzyme replacement therapies (ERTs) for Gaucher disease-imiglucerase, velaglucerase alfa, and taliglucerase alfa. ERT involves the intravenous administration of recombinant lysosomal enzymes to compensate for the deficiency of β-glucocerebrosidase, thereby reducing the accumulation of glucocerebroside in macrophages and alleviating systemic complications. While ERT has transformed disease management, concerns about long-term adverse events persist. This analysis seeks to identify and charact

T2 Hyperintensity and ADC Values in Fetal Brain MRI following Prenatal Open Neural Tube Defect Repair.

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE: T2 hyperintensity on fetal brain MRI is frequently observed in fetuses with an open neural tube defect (ONTD) and may reflect edema, impaired CSF circulation, or altered brain maturation. By characterizing the diffusion of water molecules within brain tissue, DWI may help differentiate among these etiologies by assessing water diffusion as a marker of brain microstructure. Our aim was to investigate the relationship between brain T2-hyperintensity and ADC values in fetuses following prenatal ONTD repair. MATERIALS AND METHODS: We retrospectively analyzed fetal MRI scan

Local brain network alterations in prodromal and De Novo Parkinson's disease: basal ganglia functional connectivity mediates the association between regional homogeneity and motor manifestations.

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVE: Recently, three motor phases of Parkinson's disease (PD) have been proposed (a silent period when nigrostriatal loss begins, a prodromal motor period with subtle focal manifestations, and clinical PD) accompanying the early loss of nigrostriatal dopaminergic pathways and the dysfunction of the basal ganglia (BG) loop, which produce vital network alterations that impact motor coordination. However, the relationships among local brain abnormalities, BG-based functional connectivity (FC) and motor performance in early PD remain unclear. Thus, our study aims to characteri
