NNGeoGVS: A Unified Equivariant Graph Neural Network Framework for Integrated Structure and Ligand-based Virtual Screening.

INTRODUCTION: Virtual screening (VS) is a widely used computational strategy in early- stage drug discovery for identifying bioactive compounds from large chemical libraries. Although structure-based and ligand-based approaches have demonstrated success individually, their integration into a unified deep learning framework remains limited. This study presents NNGeoGVS (Neural Network Geometric Graph-based Virtual Screening), an Equivariant Graph Neural Network (EGNN)-based framework that integrates ligand molecular topology and protein active-site geometry for activity prediction. METHODS: NN

Cotton boll extraction and single-boll weight estimation based on UAV multispectral imagery.

Single-boll weight (SBW) is difficult to estimate after defoliant application because canopy spectra include numerous mixed pixels from lint, soil, and senescent leaves, leading to strong background interference. Here we propose a UAV multispectral workflow that combines object-based boll extraction, spectral feature selection, and machine-learning regression to improve SBW mapping. Data were collected from a two-year drip-irrigated cotton experiment in Xinjiang, China involving four varieties evaluated under five planting densities treatments. Boll extraction was treated as a supervised objec

A machine learning assistant for detecting fraudulent activities in synchronous online programming exams.

The rapid expansion of online learning has made education more accessible but has also introduced significant challenges in maintaining academic integrity, particularly during online exams. For certain types of exams, students are prohibited from connecting to the Internet to prevent them from accessing unauthorized resources, utilizing generative artificial intelligence tools, or engaging in other forms of cheating. However, in online exams, students must remain connected to the Internet. Most existing online proctoring systems rely on various devices to monitor students' actions and environm

Modeling and classification of gait patterns between anterior cruciate ligament deficient and intact knees based on phase space reconstruction, Euclidean distance and neural networks.

BACKGROUND: The anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) plays an important role in stabilizing translation and rotation of the tibia relative to the femur. ACL injury alters knee kinematics and usually links to the alternation of gait patterns. The aim of this study is to develop a new method to distinguish between gait patterns of patients with anterior cruciate ligament deficient (ACL-D) knees and healthy controls with ACL-intact (ACL-I) knees based on nonlinear features and neural networks. Therefore ACL injury will be automatically and objectively detected. METHODS: First knee rotation and trans

Screening patients with sensorineural hearing loss for vestibular schwannoma using a Bayesian classifier.

OBJECTIVES: Selecting patients with asymmetrical sensorineural hearing loss for further investigation continues to pose clinical and medicolegal challenges, given the disparity between the number of symptomatic patients, and the low incidence of vestibular schwannoma as the underlying cause. We developed and validated a diagnostic model using a generalisation of neural networks, for detecting vestibular schwannomas from clinical and audiological data, and compared its performance with six previously published clinical and audiological decision-support screening protocols. DESIGN: Probabilisti

Neural circuitry underlying sustained attention in healthy adolescents and in ADHD symptomatology.

Moment-to-moment reaction time variability on tasks of attention, often quantified by intra-individual response variability (IRV), provides a good indication of the degree to which an individual is vulnerable to lapses in sustained attention. Increased IRV is a hallmark of several disorders of attention, including Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). Here, task-based fMRI was used to provide the first examination of how average brain activation and functional connectivity patterns in adolescents are related to individual differences in sustained attention as measured by IRV. We com

Levenberg-marquardt based ANN solution for MHD nanofluid flow and heat transportation over a thin needle with thermophoresis effects.

Artificial neural network (ANN) techniques have emerged as powerful data-driven tools for their effectiveness in analysis, modeling, and simulation. These supervised learning approaches are designed to reduce the error between predicted and observed data, providing accurate approximations of complex physical systems. To improve training performance, the Levenberg-Marquardt algorithm (LMA) is widely adopted due to its fast convergence and suitability for nonlinear problems. The objective of this study is to develop an ANN-based computational framework using the LMA to accurately predict the flo

A scalable multimodal graph neural network for drug combination response prediction.

Background Resistance to targeted cancer therapies, such as osimertinib in EGFR-mutant lung cancer, remains a major obstacle to effective treatment. Predicting synergistic drug combinations offers a promising strategy to overcome such resistance; however, the nonlinear and heterogeneous nature of molecular interactions makes this prediction highly challenging. This study introduces the Multimodal Molecular Drug Graph Neural Network (MMDGNN), a unified framework designed to enhance drug synergy prediction through advanced molecular representation learning. Methods MMDGNN integrates molecular fi

Disrupted self-referential processing and empathy-based interventions in mental disorders: neural mechanisms, cognitive biases, and therapeutic integration.

Self-referential processing (SRP), the mental activity of linking experiences and stimuli to the self, is fundamental to shaping identity, regulating affect, and navigating complex social environments. Disruptions in SRP are increasingly recognized as a transdiagnostic hallmark across psychiatric disorders, including schizophrenia spectrum disorders, major depressive disorder, and anxiety disorders. Such disruptions often manifest as distorted self-perception, negative cognitive-affective biases, and dysfunctional connectivity within key neural networks, particularly the default mode network (

Quantitative Assessment and Verification of Quantum Neural Network Security Based on Violations of the Bell Inequality.

In response to the current research landscape, which lacks unified quantitative standards and a reproducible verification framework for assessing the security of quantum neural networks (QNNs), this paper proposes a quantitative evaluation system and verification scheme for QNN security based on the violation characteristics of CHSH-type Bell inequalities. This method treats quantum entanglement as the core element of intrinsic security and establishes a controlled-variable controlled experiment involving purely classical models, non-entangled QNNs, weakly entangled QNNs, and strongly entangle

Particle Transformer: A Physics-Informed Transformer for Real-Time Fluid-Structure Interaction Simulation.

Recently, the use of data-driven approaches to accelerate physical simulation has emerged as a prominent research frontier. However, existing methodologies often grapple with limitations such as constrained generalization capabilities, a lack of physical consistency, and performance that falls significantly short of real-time requirements. In this paper, we propose the Particle Transformer, a Physics-Informed Neural Network (PINN) designed to substitute the core computational steps of the Material Point Method (MPM), aiming to enhance efficiency while maintaining physical fidelity. Intrinsic neural timescale abnormalities reveal molecular and neuromodulatory basis of concomitant exotropia.

BACKGROUND: Concomitant exotropia (CE) is a prevalent strabismic disorder characterized by outward ocular deviation and impaired binocular vision. While structural and functional brain abnormalities have been reported in CE, the temporal dynamics of intrinsic neural timescale remain largely unexplored. METHODS: This study employed a multimodal framework combining resting-state functional MRI (rs-fMRI), transcriptomic data from the Allen Human Brain Atlas (AHBA), and neurotransmitter receptor density maps to investigate alterations in intrinsic neural timescales (INT) in CE. From Simulations to Inference: Using Machine Learning to Tune Patient-Specific Finite-Element Models of the Middle Ear Towards Objective Diagnosis.

Computational models, particularly finite-element (FE) models, are essential for interpreting experimental data and predicting system behavior, especially when direct measurements are limited. A major challenge in tuning these models is the large number of parameters involved. Traditional methods, such as one-by-one sensitivity analyses, are time-consuming, subjective, and often return only a single set of parameter values, focusing on reproducing averaged data rather than capturing the full variability of experimental measurements. In this study, we applied simulation-based inference (SBI) us
