The Complete Mitochondrial Genome of Thymus mongolicus and Its Phylogenetic Relationship with Lamiaceae Species.

Thymus mongolicus (Lamiaceae) is a plant commonly found throughout China, in which it is widely used in chemical products for daily use, tra … n analysis of the mitogenome also showed that leucine (909) are the most abundant amino acid, while tryptophan (134) are the least prevalent. In total, 374 RNA editing sites were detected. Moreover, 180 homologous segments totaling 105,901 bp were found when the mitochondrial and chloroplast genomes of T. mongolicus were compared. Phylogenetic analysis furth …

Recent drug delivery systems targeting the gut-brain-microbiome axis for the management of chronic diseases.

In recent years, the study of microorganisms and the brain has become increasingly connected. The gut-brain-microbiome axis (GBMA), a bi-directional communication system, is the key part of how the body's bacteria and the brain interact. This system can influence the brain and behaviour. Changes in this relationship have been linked to various mental and physical health conditions. The immune system, tryptophan metabolism, the vagus nerve, and the enteric nervous system all facilitate connections between the gut and brain. Microbes produce Peptidoglycans, branched-chain amino acids, and short-…

The development of targeted therapies that correct the effect of mutations in patients with cystic fibrosis (CF) and the relevant heterogene … aliva from patients with liver disease. Our study revealed an imbalance in arginine methylation and tryptophan pathway related to CFRD and PI as well as alterations in dopaminergic pathway and Krebs cycle related to CFLD. This study also highlights different salivary metabolites as new potential biomarkers in a non-invasive sample that could represent a usef …

Functional division of labor in motility, lignocellulose digestion, and nitrogen metabolism revealed for the Mixotricha paradoxa holobiont.

Mixotricha paradoxa is a large cellulolytic flagellate present in the hindgut of the termite Mastotermes darwiniensis. This parabasalid flag … otides and nine amino acids to its host, which in turn likely supplies three amino acids, including tryptophan, to E. mixotrichae. Because bacterial cells, in addition to wood particles, were observed in food vacuoles of M. paradoxa, these ecto- and endosymbionts may be digested by the flagellate host. Overall, the distinct roles of each symbiont highlight t …

Type 1 diabetes mellitus patients had lower total vitamin K levels and increased sensitivity to direct anticoagulants.

The abnormalities in blood coagulation in patients with diabetes can lead to a prothrombotic state and requirement for the administration of … μM. In addition to common biochemical parameters, novel inflammatory markers (neopterin, kynurenine/tryptophan ratio) and major vitamin K forms were measured. Heparin and dabigatran treatments resulted in prolonged coagulation in DMT1 patients compared to healthy individuals in both tests (both p < 0.001). The same phenomenon was observed for rivaroxaban and …

High GABA-producing Lactococcus lactis ZFM559 and its derived GABA alleviate chronic unpredictable mild stress (CUMS)-induced depression via the "microbiota-brain" axis.

γ-Aminobutyric acid (GABA) is a crucial inhibitory neurotransmitter with recognized benefits in alleviating depression. However, the ability … tably, L. lactis ZFM559 exhibited stronger effects than pGABA, likely due to its superior impact on tryptophan metabolism (non-kynurenine pathway) and microbial modulation (indole pathway). Our study highlights the potential of GABA-rich probiotics and their derived GABA as psychobiotics, offering a promising strategy for the dietary intervention of depressi …

Affinity Capillary Electrophoresis Based on Receptor Quasi-Immobilization for the Study of Interactions Between Drugs and Serum Albumin.

Herein, a receptor quasi-immobilization affinity capillary electrophoresis strategy was developed for the first time, using metal-organic fr … ary electrophoresis. Furthermore, the binding constants of chiral drugs (omeprazole sodium and D, L-tryptophan) with human serum albumin were successfully determined by applying the capillary electrochromatographic column that had been rinsed with acetonitrile solution. OBJECTIVE: To explore the potential of combining natural herbs like chamomile and saffron for the management of anxiety and depression. METHODS: A rodent model of Major Depressive Disorder (MDD) and anxiety, secondary to streptozotocin-induced diabetes mellitus was made. A total of 6 rat groups were chosen; healthy and diseased controls; and diseased test groups of fluoxetine, saffron, chamomile, and combined saffron and chamomile treated (n = 6/group). Activity by forced swim test (FST), elevated plus maze test (EPMT), and correlations with biochemical markers like serum glucose, tryptophan,…

Bidirectional interactions between St. John´s wort and gut microbiome: Potential implications on gut-brain-axis.

Emerging evidence highlights the role of gut microbiome in mental health disorders, including depression, raising the question whether the a … profiling revealed modulation of pathways involved in gut-brain communication, such as tyrosine and tryptophan metabolism. These bidirectional interactions suggest for the first time the gut microbiome as a potential mediator of the pharmacological effects of St. John's wort extracts via the microbiome-gut-brain axis.

Paeonol alleviates PD-1 deficiency-induced anxiety-like behaviors through reversing the neurotransmitter metabolic disorders in spleen-brain axis.

BACKGROUND: Anxiety are frequently observed in patients with programmed cell death-1 (PD-1) blockade therapy, which is related with the over … spleen. This hyperactivity of CD4+T cells caused the spleen to excessively accumulate tyrosine and tryptophan, which led to decreased levels of dopamine and 5-hydroxytryptamine and ultimately triggered anxiety-like behaviors. These abnormal changes could be alleviated through intervention with paeonol and the molecular docking suggested paeonol had a good b …

Human skeletal muscle disuse atrophy has profound and negative effects on the muscle metabolome and lipidome.

We investigated how short-term muscle disuse altered the skeletal muscle metabolome, lipidome, and transcriptome in middle-aged adults. We report that the energy metabolism pathways: nicotinate and nicotinamide metabolism, glycolysis, and TCA cycle, were reduced after 7 days of muscle disuse. These changes in the metabolome were reflected by changes in the transcriptome where multiple genes involved in glycolysis and TCA pathways were reduced after short-term disuse. Phenylalanine, tyrosine, and tryptophan metabolism pathways showed the same response and were reduced after short-term disuse. T…
