Intracellular dialysis with the solution containing the G protein activator, AlF complex, induced an inward nonselective cation current (INS) at -55 mV in chromaffin cells. Amplitudes of INS induced by dialysis with ATP-free AlF solutions progressively diminished as cells were pretreated with cyanide, a mitochondrial inhibitor. After a 10-min pretreatment, generation of INS by the AlF complex depended on exogenous ATP delivered from pipette solution. A total of 2275 schoolchildren 12 yr of age from the four health regions of the State of Mexico were examined for the prevalence and severity of dental caries. The proportion of caries-free children was only 10%, and the DMFS index was 6.94. 78% of the index derived from decayed surfaces, and 19% from filled surfaces. Evidence was obtained for catecholamine-stimulated adenylate cyclase activity in particulate fractions of frog and rabbit corneal epithelium. Epinephrine (10(-5)M) stimulated adenylate cyclase by 22 and 53% in the frog and rabbit, respectively. New compositions of bioactive glasses are proposed in the CaO-MgO-SiO(2)-Na(2)O-P(2)O(5)-CaF(2) system. It was previously shown that cells die with increased cytosolic ATP after stimulation with apoptotic inducers including staurosporine (STS). To identify the source of apoptotic ATP elevation, we monitored, in real time, the cytosolic ATP level in luciferase-expressing HeLa cells. The glow curve shape of LiF:Mg,Cu,P (MCP) material is studied in this research. The study is focused on the effects of the heating rate on the dosimetric peaks. Different configurations of dosemeters (chips, cards and powder) are studied. The shifting of the dominant dosimetric peak is observed and analysed. The curves are deconvoluted using the new Harshaw Glow Curve Analyser (GCA) program. Results of the study are presented, as well as possible explanations as to the observed effects.

Gangliosides (GM1, GT1b, GD3) were incorporated in bovine thyroid plasma membranes using the nonspecific lipid transfer protein from beef liver. The transfer of GT1b or GD3 in the presence of 16 units of transfer protein was twice as high as that of GM1.
