The effects of PGE2 and PGF2 alpha on corpus uteri and cervix strips of guinea pigs were studied in vitro. Myometrium strips developed maximal contraction activity at concentrations of 10(-7) M PGE2 and 5 x 10(-7) M PGF2 alpha in the organ bath, respectively. A method for determining the vocalization response to algesic agents in conscious guinea pigs is described. Retrograde injection of small amounts of algesic agents into the femoral artery caused transient but obvious vocalization response in a dose-dependent manner. The specificity and sensitivity of adult and larval somatic antigens, and perienteric fluid of Toxocara canis and Ascaris suum were investigated by using intradermal skin tests in guinea pigs.
