Background and ObjectiveTricuspid regurgitation is a prevalent and undertreated cardiac pathology impacting millions across the globe. While historically surgical interventions for isolated tricuspid regurgitation were largely avoided due to data citing poor surgical outcomes, advances in transcatheter techniques and imaging modalities have reframed the approach to tricuspid valve disease in promising new ways.MethodsHere we sought to provide a landscape review of the current state of the field for transcatheter tricuspid valve interventions. We first start with a descriptive overview of the t

BACKGROUND: Severe functional tricuspid regurgitation is associated with adverse clinical outcomes. Conventional surgical risk for patients with advanced tricuspid regurgitation stage is high. Alternative approaches are therefore required.
AIMS: The purpose of this study was to investigate the feasibility, technical details, and midterm outcomes of implantation of a novel radial force-independent orthotopic transcatheter tricuspid valve -the LuX-Valve- in patients with severe functional tricuspid regurgitation.
METHODS: The implantations of the LuX-Valve were performed in six patients with l

Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation (TAVI) or Replacement (TAVR) is a promising treatment for aortic valve stenosis, consisting of a procedure to replace a damaged native aortic valve by a bioprosthetic one. This replacement valve control the flow of blood using leaflets that are similar to the ones of a native aortic valve. Commonly manufactured using bovine or porcine pericardium, it is a tissue histologically composed of collagen fibers embedded into a nearly-isotropic matrix, where their distribution makes the pericardium behave as an anisotropic hyperelastic material. Because of such

Transcatheter repair of mitral regurgitation (MR) by edge-to-edge therapy has become increasingly accepted for patients with severe MR at high or prohibitive surgical risk in primary or degenerative mitral regurgitation (DMR). The technological approach has evolved from the initial transcatheter edge-to-edge device to improve on its acute reduction in MR and durability of results, particularly in complex primary pathology. In this study, we reported the first case of DragonFly™ Transcatheter Valve Repair device in a patient with severe DMR.

Treatment of recurrent MR after initially successful MitraClip procedure can pose therapeutic challenges. We report a successful case of redo MitraClip to treat recurrent inter-clip MR due to progression of underlying degenerative valvular pathology with prolapsing posterior mitral leaflet between the two prior clips. In this vignette, we describe the novel use of quantitative coronary arteriography (QCA) to select redo MitraClip as the treatment strategy.

OBJECTIVES: The Florida-sleeve is a valve-sparing technique that causes minimal interference to leaflet kinematics and aortic root dynamism. The aim of this in vitro study was to evaluate the effects of the Florida-sleeve and Yacoub techniques on aortic leaflet kinematics.
METHODS: Two groups of 6 whole porcine hearts were treated with either the Florida-sleeve technique or the Yacoub technique and tested in a pulsatile loop. Valve fluid dynamics, coronary flow analysis and valve echocardiograms were performed both before and after the procedures.
RESULTS: Both procedures showed no differenc

BACKGROUND: Among current transcatheter therapies for the treatment of mitral regurgitation, the MitraClip (MC; Abbott Vascular, Abbott Park, IL) system is the most commonly used. MitraClip implantation is usually contraindicated in patients with a mitral valve area (MVA) < 4.0 cm2. However, little is known about the real impact of MC implantation on MVA. Our goal was to investigate the factors influencing MVA reduction and derive the minimal MVA required to prevent the development of a clinically significant mitral stenosis (MVA < 1.5 cm2) in different clinical scenarios.
METHODS: Using thre
