Two epikeratophakia lenticules were removed from a highly myopic eye after 13 years and from an aphakic eye after 15 years, respectively. After subsequent refraction compensation, the following results were achieved. PURPOSE: To report major complications associated with laser in situ keratomileusis (LASIK).
METHODS: Twenty-four eyes of 23 patients who underwent LASIK in different centers in Saudi Arabia were included. There were 9 women and 14 men. The age range was from 20 to 65 years. PURPOSE: A Phase I U.S. FDA clinical study of a plate haptic posterior chamber phakic intraocular lens (STAAR Surgical Implantable Contact Lens) for treatment of hyperopia was conducted at 4 sites in the United States. The purpose of this report is to assess the short-term safety and efficacy.

We carried out a retrospective study to evaluate the relationship between vitreous cavity length, graft size, and final spherical equivalent refraction after penetrating keratoplasty (PK) for keratoconus. We found a straight-line relationship between vitreous cavity length and spherical equivalent for a one-surgeon series using the same technique throughout. Our experience in the surgical treatment of unilateral cataracts in children has been presented. Over two-thirds of the patients who were visually mature at the onset of their cataract regained useful vision in the operated eye while less than 10% of the visually immature patients did so. Our findings approximate those found in the literature. While improved visual acuity is the most important objective of unilateral cataract surgery in children, other benefits such as a cleared optical axis often make such surgery desirable, even when the prospect for visual recovery is poor.
