OBJECTIVE: To describe the various combinations of medication used in Denmark in the latent phase of labor (i.e. for therapeutic rest) and to estimate the frequency of use.
METHODS: An informal e-mail survey based on personal information from Danish midwives or staff obstetricians. The main outcome measures were type and dosage of medications used individually or in combination ("cocktail") for therapeutic rest in Danish delivery wards during the latent phase of labor and also the frequency of their use.

OBJECTIVES: The aim of this study was to determine the effect of type 2 diabetes mellitus (DM) on the serum level of prostate-specific antigen (PSA) in men in Basrah, Iraq.
PATIENTS AND METHODS: A case-control study was done including 70 confirmed type 2 diabetic patients and 70 non-diabetic persons. Data about age and family history of diabetes were collected. For diabetic patients, data related to disease history were also enquired about. Weight and height were measured and body mass index (BMI) was calculated. Blood examination was done to estimate fasting plasma glucose and PSA.

Pakistan is one of 3 countries where transmission of indigenous wild poliovirus (WPV) has never been interrupted. Numbers of confirmed polio cases have declined by >90% from preeradication levels, although outbreaks occurred during 2008-2013. During 2012 and 2013, 58 and 93 WPV cases, respectively, were reported, almost all of which were due to WPV type 1. The analysis of 1,176 whiplash-type neck distortions was sought from a total of 3,838 restrained car driver incident reports. The percentage of these injuries increased from less than 10 % in 1985 to over 30 % in 1997. These occurred mostly with head-on or with multiple collisions, and only in 15 % with pure rear-end collisions. In 23,2 %, δv amounted 10 km/h or less, which corresponds to a very minor crash. The average δv was the highest in the cases of head-on collisions. Letters were sent to the injured to find out about the duration and type of complaints caused by a cervical spine injury.

BACKGROUND: There are few headache surveys in the elderly. Previous studies have shown a low headache prevalence in Chinese.

We present the first description, to our knowledge, of an outbreak of spontaneous staphylococcal arthritis in a rat colony. In a group of 10 rats, 9 displayed arthritis.
