Cervical root avulsions are the worst pattern of injury in obstetrical brachial plexus injury (OBPI). The prognosis is poor and the treatment is mainly surgical with extraplexual neurotizations or muscle transfers. Thirty-five fractures secondary to roller skating accidents from March 15 to October 1, 1979 were treated in the University of Washington-affiliated hospitals.
