This article provides an overview of the various classification systems for radial longitudinal, central longitudinal, and ulnar longitudinal deficiencies. It looks specifically at radius deficiency, hypoplastic thumb, index finger pollicization, narrowed thumb web, forearm-elbow deformities, and hand abnormalities. UNLABELLED: We report a dermatomyositis associated with Lyme disease.
OBSERVATION: A 73-years-old woman has developed for 5 months an asthenia, a periorbital oedema and a forearm's skin infiltration without other signs suggesting of dermatomyositis. Laboratory studies showed an elevation of muscular enzymes, and inflammation signs. The skin and the muscles biopsies were compatible with the diagnostic of dermatomyositis. The patient was seropositive for Lyme disease. The patient was efficiently treated with doxycycline.

In this article, we present the treatment of a recurrent giant-cell tumor of the radius with en bloc resection and full-length radius reconstruction with a 24-cm long microsurgical fibular graft. At time of 8-year follow-up, there was no evidence of tumor recurrence. A satisfactory range of motion of the elbow, wrist, and forearm was maintained. There was no instability in the joints, and grip strength measured 63% of the opposite side. We report a boy with mesomelic dysplasia of the forearms, skin dimples, mildly bowed tibiae, metatarsus adductus, congenital cataracts, sensorineural hearing loss, hypotonia, and mildly dysmorphic features. In nine patients with obstetric brachial plexus lesions (Klumpke type), an impingement of the bicipital tuberosity on the ulna was the main cause for the forearm and hand to be fixed in supination. A surgical technique using reinsertion of the biceps tendon on the bicipital tuberosity is described in detail. It has substantially improved all patients. An accurate cost analysis of the use of one of the new synthetic casting materials (Cellacast) compared with plaster-of-Paris (Gypsona) was undertaken over a 3-month period in the fracture clinic of Cardiff Royal Infirmary. In this case spontaneous bleeding from a gluteal artery resulted in a gluteal compartment syndrome and sciatic neuropathy. Bleeding is best managed by arteriography and embolization. An 85-year-old woman with congenital lymphedema of the right upper extremity developed a small purplish papule on the forearm, which was the first clinical evidence of lymphangiosarcoma.
