Retained Descemet's membrane (DM) following penetrating keratoplasty (PKP) is a rare finding that may reduce visual acuity following opacification or endanger the graft endothelium. The association between Nd:YAG laser membranotomy and corneal graft failure is reported. Five of 1,350 patients (0.37%) undergoing PKP for pseudophakic bullous keratopathy or graft failure between 1986 and 2008 presented with inadvertent retained DM located close to the graft endothelium. We investigated the results of cataract surgery in acute angle-closure glaucoma patients whose intraocular pressure (IOP) was not controlled with conventional treatment. We compared postoperative IOP and best corrected visual acuity (BCVA) with preoperative data in 10 eyes of 10 patients who had undergone cataract surgery for acute angle-closure glaucoma. PURPOSE: The aim of this study was to investigate the significance of the initial visual field as a predictor of recurrence of craniopharyngioma and postoperative visual outcome in children with craniopharyngioma.

BACKGROUND: Numerous surgical decompression techniques have been described in endocrine orbitopathy. We present an overview of the treatment and clinical outcome of 13 patients with endocrine ophthalmopathy and 20 orbital decompressions via an extradural pterional approach, carried out in our center from 1995 to 2002.

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: To compare the postoperative astigmatism between sutured wounds and nonsutured wounds after cataract surgery with a 3.2-mm scleral tunnel incision.
PATIENTS AND METHODS: One hundred ten eyes of 110 patients were studied. Eyes with cataracts were randomly assigned to either the sutured or the unsutured procedure. Identical surgical methods were used in every case except for wound closure technique. Data on uncorrected visual acuity and induced astigmatism were analyzed for 6 months after the surgery.
RESULTS: Both groups displayed similar uncorrected visual acuity.

A retrospective review for bullous keratopathy in our hospital from 1985 to 1992 was studies. Among the cases with bullous keratopathy, 14 were performed with antiglaucoma operation and cataract extraction, 12 that experienced a contusion or penetrating trauma history underwent cataract operation. Experience with the removal of complicated cataract by lensectomy in patients with juvenile chronic iridocyclitis (JCI) has so far been limited. The results of lensectomy were reviewed retrospectively in 131 patients with JCI (187 eyes). The mean follow up period was 5 years 4 months.
