Inguinal herniation of the bladder is relatively common, reported in as many as 4% of inguinal hernias. In the majority of those cases, it is a sliding hernia that is noted at time of herniorrhaphy. Complete herniation of the bladder or "scrotal cystocele" is very rare and normally managed with herniorrhaphy. This case report presents a case of massive inguinal scrotal herniation of the urinary bladder successfully managed with trans-scrotal drainage via neocystostomy tube.

Duplication of the bladder is a rare congenital anomaly with an unknown embryological basis. A 12-year-old boy with dysuria was found to have a tri-radiate external urethral meatus instead of a vertical slit. Cystourethroscopy revealed two bladders with bifid proximal urethra. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) revealed duplication of colon and bladder. He did not have any symptoms related to the urinary tract.

We opted for a symphysiotomy approach in the management of cervico-urethro-vaginal fistulae in two patients. This approach offers an excellent exposure of the region of the bladder neck. After section of the symphysis pubis with a Gigli's wire saw, the anterior wall of the bladder was taken down to the fistulae and we excised the fistulous tract. Longitudinal closure of the fistulae and the bladder followed. Results were satisfactory and there were no urinary incontinence.

Fifteen patients with urinary retention following rectal resection were examined urodynamically, including cystometry and simultaneous measurement of flow and pressure in the bladder and in the abdomen. Five patients suffered from bladder neck obstruction. This was in most cases put down to a preexisting prostatic enlargement. In 4 patients it was impossible to detect any function of the bladder muscle. Detrusor insufficiency was the cause of retention in the remaining 6 patients.

AIMS: The urodynamic findings and voiding habits in patients with concomitant clinical benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) and detrusor overactivity (DO) presenting with or without the symptom of urgency were compared.

OBJECTIVE: To report the urological outcome of the surgical correction of persistent cloaca, which is technically demanding and may require many procedures in an effort to preserve renal function and provide urinary continence.
PATIENTS AND METHODS: A retrospective chart review from 1971 to 2003 identified 23 patients with cloacal malformations (two posterior, 21 classical) that were reconstructed.
