The wealth of material on depressive classification provides both researcher and clinician with a sorting task of monumental proportions. Moreover the criticisms which have been fired at studies of depressive classification using symptoms as a data base, also require systematic sorting and elucidation. An attempt has been made to review the major studies of depressive classification in a systematic way, together with the principal criticisms which have been made of them. In 500 cases (379 men and 121 women) of ischemic heart disease, including 428 patients with myocardial infarction and 72 -- with imminent infarction, blood lipid levels were determined. Blood samples were taken on fasting, by the end of hospitalization, from patients with myocardial infarction on the 18th-21st day of disease, and from those with imminent infarction after cessation of pain. Cytological examination of smears or imprints of diffuse non-leukaemic lymphomata gives more details of the morphological aspects of the cells than does histological examination. Eight cases of unusual radiolucent filling defects in the renal pelvis and calices are reported. With reference to the literature and these cases, such defects have been classified etiologically as tumors, calculi, blood clots, air bubbles, congenital anomalies, vascular phenomena, infections and associated conditions, foreign bodies and miscellaneous conditions. Most of these conditions are rare but their accurate delineation with modern diagnostic techniques will allow for more conservative surgical procedures and for maximal preservation of renal substance.

The morphological development of the epiphyseal growth plate and intervertebral discs of newborn and nine-month-old beagles, greyhounds and dachshunds have been studied. On the basis of the cellular and matrix development of these canine tissues together with the known characteristics associated with achondroplasia it is concluded that the beagle should be assigned to the chondrodystroid breed classification.
