Desmoplastic melanoma (DM) represents a distinctive rare variant of spindle cell melanoma with a predilection for chronically sun-exposed skin of the elderly. PURPOSE: The purpose of this paper is to present a rare case of osteoma localized in the left frontal sinus. A 22-year-old woman who arrived at the Department of Neurosurgery of the University Emergency Hospital, Bucharest, Romania, presented a vertical asymmetry of the eyeballs but displayed no clinical signs like pain or diplopia. The computer tomography exam was used for preoperatory diagnostic. Histopathology was performed after surgery using Hematoxylin and Eosin staining. We are presenting the case of a 19-day-old newborn with HIV-seropositive mother, under antiretroviral treatment since birth, who is admitted in the ICU (Intensive Care Unit) of the 1st Pediatric Clinic at the Emergency County University Hospital in Craiova, Romania, in critical general condition, with severe respiratory insufficiency. The examination of the tracheal and bronchial secretion revealed positive BK (bacillus of Koch).
