Reproductive experiences and family history were assessed in 215 white females with epithelial ovarian cancer and in 215 control women matched by age, race, and residence. Pregnancy exerted a strong protective effect against ovarian cancer, which increased with the number of live-born children. After adjustment for parity, an effect of age at first live birth and breast-feeding was not apparent. A family study of 274 index patients with limb reduction malformations born in Hungary from 1975 to 1977 is reported. The majority of 789 first-degree relatives were personally examined. The albinotic skin and hair of 2 patients with Hermansky-Pudlak syndrome were investigated by light and electron microscopy. Morphologically the following changes were found: Ptosis, microcornea, anterior embryotoxon, defects of the iris ranging from corectopia and coloboma to hypoplasia of the iris and clinical aniridia cataracts and hypoplasia of the fovea. This paper describes the commoner psychiatric difficulties of homosexual patients seen in a family practice. It is written primarily to aid general practitioners in deciding who should be referred to a psychiatrist. Recent developments in the study of homosexuality indicate that homosexual persons are no more likely than heterosexuals to suffer psychiatric problems. Practical suggestions are made for management and counseling, and some of the misconceptions about the gay community are dispelled.

Results of a comparative study of the ovulation method (OM) and symptothermal method (STM) of natural family planning in Colombia are presented. Recruitment of volunteer couples began in August, 1976, and continued through December, 1978, during which time 566 couples were randomly assigned to one or the other of the two methods. An 8:10 translocation was found in a 15-day-old female child affected with adrenogenital syndrome. Some other members of the family also showed the same chromosomal anomaly. By G-, Q- and T-banding, break and fusion points were determined at the level of 8q21 and 10q24 bands. The hormone and enzymatic tests carried out in all the members of the family revealed a 21-hydroxylase deficiency only in the proposita. A reliability study of a life events questionnaire administered to 117 pairs of respondents indicated that a "significant other" (family member or friend) added approximately 29% new information to that gathered from the patient alone.
