This retrospective study examined revision anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction using a bone-tendon-bone autograft of the patellar ligament. We followed up 44 patients (mean age 27.9 years) for an average of 41.2 months. Clinical examination with the Lachmann and pivot shift tests showed clearly improved stability; KT-1000 arthrometer measurements had a mean difference of 3.5 mm in side-to-side comparison. The unusual presentation of the osteonecrosis and the chronology suggest that the osteonecrosis of the knee resulted from damage to the articular cartilage and subchondral bone at the time of the arthroscopic laser meniscectomy.

We report a review of 54 patients with chronic anterior cruciate ligament rupture treated by patellar-quadriceps tendon graft augmented with polypropylene braid (Kennedy-LAD). From February 1982 through July 1987, the author studied 87 patients who had a total of 116 meniscus tears, 96 of which were repaired. Seventy patients (79 meniscus repairs) had postoperative followup ranging from 12 months to 5 1/2 years (mean, 39 months). The patients' ages ranged from 14 to 51 years with a mean age of 22. The time from injury to surgery ranged from 1 week to 6 years.
