HuR Mediates Changes in the Stability of AChR β-Subunit mRNAs after Skeletal Muscle Denervation.

UNLABELLED: Acetylcholine receptors (AChRs) are heteromeric membrane proteins essential for neurotransmission at the neuromuscular junction. Previous work showed that muscle denervation increases expression of AChR mRNAs due to transcriptional activation of AChR subunit genes. However, it remains possible that post-transcriptional mechanisms are also involved in controlling the levels of AChR mRNAs following denervation. We examined whether post-transcriptional events indeed regulate AChR β-subunit mRNAs in response to denervation. First, in vitro stability assays revealed that the half-life o

Long-term outcome of patients with perioperative myocardial infarction as diagnosed by troponin I after routine surgical coronary artery revascularization.

OBJECTIVE: Diagnosis of perioperative myocardial infarction (P-MI) after coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) surgery traditionally relied on a combination of electrocardiographic and enzyme assay changes. Patients with Q-wave P-MIs who survive to hospital discharge have a poorer long-term prognosis. Troponin assays are more sensitive and specific for detecting minor P-MI, with an increased incidence of P-MI being reported. This study investigated if P-MI after CABG surgery, as defined by troponin-I isozyme (cTn-I), correlated with long-term outcome. DESIGN: A prospective, observational study.

Different dosage regimens of erenumab for the treatment of migraine: A systematic review and meta-analysis of the efficacy and safety of randomized controlled trials.

BACKGROUND: Migraine is a worldwide epidemic neurological disorder that has a significant influence on the quality of life. Migraine attacks are considered to be related to a calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP) signaling molecule, and anti-CGRP medications are used to abort and prevent migraine attacks. Erenumab, a monoclonal antibody that targets the CGRP receptor, is the first migraine preventive medication approved by the US Food and Drug Administration. In the present study, we evaluate the efficacy and safety of erenumab. OBJECTIVE: This study aims to systematically assess the efficac

WITHDRAWN: Trimetazidine for stable angina.

BACKGROUND: Patients with stable angina not controlled by monotherapy with nitrates, beta blockers, or calcium channel blockers are often treated with combinations of these drugs. There may be adverse effects from, or contraindications to, the use of combinations. In low risk groups, medical treatment appears to be as good an option as percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty in terms of averting myocardial infarction, death, or subsequent revascularization. Revascularization procedures are too costly or inaccessible for many patients in developing countries therefore effective and safe
