Xerosis is one of the most common dermatologic disorders occurring in the elderly and in patients with atopic dermatitis (AD) and human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection. Xerosis has been linked to an impaired skin barrier function of the stratum corneum. Granulomatous dermatitis (GD) is known to occur following varicella-zoster virus (VZV) infection. Lesions may appear at varying times after the acute eruption in both immunosuppressed and immunocompetent hosts. The etiology of GD is unclear, and findings of VZV in the lesions often are inconsistent. We describe 2 immunocompromised patients who presented with GD following VZV infection; their lesions were examined for the presence of VZV. We also review the literature on postzoster GD.

BACKGROUND: Large-cell transformation in mycosis fungoides [MF] is associated with an aggressive clinical course and poor survival. In addition to tumour progression, infectious complications may be the cause of death. BACKGROUND: The North American Contact Dermatitis Group (NACDG) tests patients with suspected allergic contact dermatitis to a broad series of screening allergens and publishes periodic reports.
OBJECTIVE: The aims of this study were to report the NACDG patch-testing results from January 1, 2007, to December 31, 2008, and to compare results to pooled test data from the previous 2 and 10 years to analyze trends in allergen sensitivity.

Allergic reaction to nitinol is rarely reported, and its incidence, symptoms, and course have not been clearly defined. We report an occurrence of severe progressive generalized exanthema 3 days after the implantation of an Amplatzer occluder for a patent foramen ovale, with symptoms disappearing immediately after surgical removal of the device 3 months later. The risks and possible prevention of allergic reaction to nickel and especially to titanium are discussed.

The brown marmorated stink bug, Halyomorpha halys, is native to Asia (China, Taiwan, Japan, and the Korean peninsula). It was first found in Allentown, Pa, in 1996 and has since spread across wide areas of the Eastern United States.
