OBJECTIVE: To evaluate efficacy and safety of pegloticase, approved by the Food and Drug Administration in September 2010 for treatment of patients with chronic treatment-refractory gout.
DATA SOURCES: Literature searches were conducted using PubMed (1948-January 2012), TOXLINE, International Pharmaceutical Abstracts (1970-January 2012), and Google Scholar using the terms pegloticase, puricase, PEG-uricase, gout, uricase, and Krystexxa. Results were limited to English-language publications. References from selected articles were reviewed to identify additional citations.

OBJECTIVE: Macroprolactin, which comprises immunoglobulin G (IgG) or anti-prolactin (PRL) autoantibody-bound PRL, is one of the causes of hyperprolactinaemia. This study evaluated the composition and stability of macroprolactin and determined whether the condition was long lasting. We also investigated whether we could predict the composition of macroprolactin based on the ratio of polyethylene glycol (PEG)-precipitable PRL.

The photodegradation of trichloroethene (TCE) with or without nonaqueous phase liquids (NAPL) by ultraviolet irradiation in surfactant solutions was examined in this study. The photodecay of TCE was studied at monochromatic 254nm UV lamps. Scrotal ultrasound has been used to confirm the resolution of hydrocele testis after sclerosing with different solutions, and so, early recurrences with a multicystic appearance were occasionally observed. This finding was considered a complication of the sclerosant treatment needing a surgical option [1].
