We prospectively examined a cohort of HIV-positive persons with an accurately estimated date of HIV seroconversion who were infected through injecting drug use or sexual contact to estimate the proportion of long-term nonprogressors (LTNP), considering four definitions of LTNPs. Oral submucous fibrosis (OSF) affects an estimated 2.5 million people, mostly in the Indian subcontinent. Limitation of oral opening resulting in difficulty in eating is the main presenting feature. The MIC values of the antifungal drug ketoconazole were evaluated on 66 Candida albicans strains. These strains were isolated from 26 HIV-1 infected patients with oral recurrent candidosis. Each episode of oral candidosis observed in these patients was orally treated with ketoconazole (200 mg/day) until the clinical disappearance of the lesions. We studied two familial cases of human T-lymphotropic virus type I (HTLV-I)-associated myelopathy from the Kii Peninsula, an area of endemic adult T-cell leukemia-lymphoma (ATLL) in Japan. Five pathologists reviewed histologic slides from 134 cases of histiocytic lymphoma and subclassified these cases using Lukes-Collins classification system.
