"Can We Talk?": A Community-Based Training to Improve Serious Illness Communication.

Serious illness conversations (SICs) are often delayed or avoided in community-based healthcare due to clinician discomfort and lack of training. Given that many patients wish to die at home, yet often do not, there is a need for structured communication training in home care and hospice settings to ensure the care we provide aligns with patient and family preferences. This quality improvement project aimed to assess whether a brief, structured, in-person training session could improve clinician confidence in conducting SICs. A pre-test/post-test design was used. Clinicians participated in a 1

Family Presence in Pediatric Cardiac Procedural Settings: A Qualitative Study of Clinicians, A Key Stakeholder Group.

BACKGROUND: With increased emphasis on healthcare transparency, parents are increasingly asking to be present for procedures performed on their children, especially in high-acuity contexts like care of children with congenital heart disease (CHD), where procedures may inform critical care decisions. In addition, observations of complex care may better communicate clinical knowledge and benefit grieving after adverse events. We examined clinicians' views on current family presence (FP) efforts and on the expansion of FP to include the observation of operative procedures. METHODS: This is a qua

Reliability and validity of the training satisfaction questionnaire for family members (TSQ-FM) entering the ICU during an isolation disease outbreak.

BACKGROUND: The presence of family members in an isolated ICU during an isolation disease outbreak is restricted by hospital policies because of the infectious risk. This can be overcome by conferring to family members the skill and the ability to safely don and doff the personal protective equipment (PPE) through a nurse-led training intervention and assess their satisfaction, to respond to the need to define a safe, effective and quality care pathway focused on Family-Centered Care (FCC) principles. OBJECTIVE: the study aimed to build a valid and reliable instrument for clinical practice to

'Focus on diet quality': a qualitative study of clinicians' perspectives of use of the Mediterranean dietary pattern for non-alcoholic fatty liver disease.

Practice guidelines for non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) recommend promoting the Mediterranean dietary pattern (MDP) which is cardioprotective and may improve hepatic steatosis. This study aimed to explore multidisciplinary clinicians' perspectives on whether the MDP is recommended in routine management of NAFLD and barriers and facilitators to its implementation in a multi-ethnic setting. Semi-structured individual interviews were conducted with fourteen clinicians (seven doctors, three nurses, three dietitians and one exercise physiologist) routinely managing patients with NAFLD in
