OBJECTIVE: To compare the efficacy of Dermabond with conventional nylon sutures for sealing linear corneal incisions.
METHODS: A keratome knife was used to create a 4-mm full-thickness linear corneal incision anterior to the limbal arcade in 20 fresh pig eyes. The incision was sealed with Dermabond tissue adhesive or closed with 10-0 nylon sutures. PURPOSE: To report an unusual presentation of pellucid marginal degeneration (PMD) and its management by using air injection and tension sutures.
CASE REPORT: We report 2 cases with a history of acute pain and loss of vision. Examination revealed hydrops at the 6-9 o'clock meridian with Descemet's membrane detachment and tear at the same area and advanced PMD in the other eye.
DISCUSSION: Air injection with suturing to treat the hydrops in PMD and crescentic excision with lamellar grafting instead of lamellar keratoplasty lead to better results than conservative management.

This paper reports a case of small bowel occlusion due to the herniation of an ileal ansa at the site of the insertion of a 12-mm trocar. A 28-year-old obese female patient underwent laparoscopic surgery for gastric bypass, the skin incisions of the trocar insertion sites were closed with absorbable sutures. The postnatal development of the hard palate was studied by conventional histologic and microradiographic means on autopsy material from thirty-three boys and twenty-seven girls aged 0 to 18 years. The findings indicated thet growth in length of the hard palate until the age of 13 to 15 was due to growth in the transverse suture and to apposition on the posterior margin of the palate.
