The physical conditions of challenge were investigated in a climatic chamber on 8 patients with cholinergic urticaria and 10 patients with generalized cold urticaria. The cholinergic urticaria was induced by passive or active (physical exercise) heating and psychological stimulation; the generalized cold urticaria was induced by general cooling at rest and during physical effort. One hundred and thirty-one cases of patients operated for a parotidal tumor were reviewed. We report on 85 cases that had no previous treatment, including 68 benign and 17 malignant tumors. The surgical treatment applied is analysed according to the benign or malignant nature of the tumor and to the results. For benign mixed tumors (43 cases) there were 29 total resections, 12 superficial lobectomies and 2 simple enucleations (intraparotidal location unforseen). A nulliparous female aged 26 years, who presented with long-standing sore and cracked soles, showed congenital anonychia, long-standing hyper-and-hypo-pigmentation in axillae and groins, dry palmar and plantar skin as well as other skin and hair abnormalities. She gave a family history of nail, hair and pigmentary abnormalities and examination of living affected relatives confirmed this. This appears to be a hitherto undescribed autosomal dominant syndrome.
