RATIONALE: A Mason type III radial head fracture, which is characterized by comminuted fragments of the radial head, is a severe injury. Open reduction and internal fixation (ORIF) is an alternative treatment method; however, the technique of using an on-table reduction in combination with surgical glue is rarely reported.
PATIENT CONCERNS: A 48-year-old man was admitted to our department with complaints of elbow pain after falling down. Elbow radiography and computed tomography (CT) demonstrated characteristics of fractures before the operation.

We report the use of a 15° face-changing cementless acetabular component in patients undergoing total hip replacement for osteoarthritis secondary to developmental dysplasia of the hip. The rationale behind its design and the surgical technique used for its implantation are described. It is distinctly different from a standard cementless hemispherical component as it is designed to position the bearing surface at the optimal angle of inclination, that is, < 45°, while maximising the cover of the component by host bone.

A case of squamous cell carcinoma of the fronto-ethmoid complex in an 18-year-old man is presented. A proteolytic enzyme mixture, Orenzyme-Forte, containing trypsin, chymotrypsin, and ribonuclease was used to treat experimentally induced pulpitis in the teeth of three monkeys. Assessment by means of the criteria of Stanley showed that the enzyme mixture induced better healing than a zinc oxide--eugenol dressing. When the two were used simultaneously, a synergistic effect was seen. We suggest that this enzyme mixture may be useful in clinical practice in the treatment of pulpitis.

OBJECTIVE: The purpose of this study was to compare microleakage of glass ionomer materials (GIC) using two different modes of cavity preparation: a high-speed hand piece and an erbium/yttrium-aluminum-garnet (Er/YAG) laser.
METHODS: Eighty caries free permanent molar teeth had class V preparations cut on both the buccal and lingual surfaces. The high-speed hand piece was used to prepare a class V cavity preparation on the buccal surface and an Er/YAG laser was used to prepare a class V cavity preparation on the lingual surface. GIC or resin modified GIC was used as the restorative material.
