Results of a national rosacea patient survey: common issues that concern rosacea sufferers.

A survey of people with rosacea was conducted in 2006 to gain insight into experiences with rosacea therapies and relationships with health care providers. The survey was completed by 2946 participants, of whom 2847 had been diagnosed with rosacea. Participants ranged in age from 20 to 81 years (mean age 50 years). Among those diagnosed with rosacea, 80% agreed that medication prevented their rosacea from worsening. Most respondents currently using prescription medication (82%) did not plan to discontinue its use. Among current users of medication, 46% had switched from a prior agent, usually

Perceptions of AI-generated informational texts and effects of the source: An online experiment.

Artificial intelligence (AI) is becoming increasingly common for health information seeking, yet many people are still skeptical of its performance. This between-subjects online experiment tested whether informing readers that a text was produced by AI influenced their ratings in 774 participants. They were randomly assigned to read one of six brief texts and rated trustworthiness, interest, and perceived understanding, as well as intention to act upon the received information and willingness to share the information with others. Source information did not influence ratings, but only 41.5% of

Evaluation of Stigma Toward Fatty Liver Disease.

BACKGROUND AND AIMS: A recent Delphi statement proposed an adapted term from metabolic dysfunction-associated fatty liver disease (MAFLD), metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD), substituting "fatty" with "steatotic", as the former was claimed to be stigmatizing. In this cross-sectional study, we aimed to investigate this and understand stigma and awareness among fatty liver disease patients. METHODS: A semi-structured interview consisting of questions was carried out with patients to get an understanding of their knowledge of fatty liver disease and their opinions o

COVID-19 vaccination hesitancy in pediatrics: a systematic review.

BACKGROUND: Vaccine-preventable diseases remain among the top ten global health threats. These findings indicate an important link between health and vaccine literacy. Children are less affected by COVID-19 than adults are but can be particularly vulnerable in communities with inadequate and weak infrastructure. One in five parents was skeptical about the COVID-19 vaccine. The present study combined the findings of previous studies to identify the reasons for parental hesitancy related to children's COVID-19 vaccination. METHODS: We conducted a systematic review following the Preferred Report

The Role of Indigenous Epidemic Folk Stories in Shaping Adaptive Disease-Related Behaviors in West Papua.

Epidemics rank among humanity's deadliest disasters, profoundly affecting societies across health, psychological, social, and economic domains. Past outbreaks have left a unique cultural legacy in the form of epidemic folk stories that explain disease etiology and provide behavioral guidelines during crises. This aligns with theories suggesting that storytelling may serve as an adaptive mechanism facilitating transmission of survival-relevant information. We explored this premise among Indigenous people in West Papua, Indonesia. We interviewed 100 Asmat men, asking them to recall folk stories
