Genitourinary tract lymphomas are rare and comprise <5% of extranodal lymphomas. Information on prevalence in urinary and male genital tract (GU) organs is limited. Nodal marginal zone lymphoma (NMZL) is a rare non-Hodgkin lymphoma that arises from mature B-cells. We delineate outcomes, prognostic factors and treatment trends among a large cohort of patients with NMZL in the rituximab era. We identified 56 such patients treated at our institutions. This study aimed to analyze the distribution of lymphoid neoplasms in a single tertiary care center in India using the World Health Organization (WHO) 2008 classification. Histological material of 5115 patients with histopathological diagnosis of lymphoma, diagnosed over a period of 10 years (2001-2010), was analyzed retrospectively. This paper reports a 59 year old woman with paraneoplastic limbic encephalitis associated with diffuse large B cell lymphoma. Her brain magnetic resonance imaging scan showed bilateral posterior thalamic hyperintensities, similar to the "pulvinar sign". Her symptoms included progressive psychiatric disturbance and resembled the initial symptoms of variant Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease (vCJD). Clinicians should consider this treatable disorder in the differential diagnosis of vCJD.
