To establish the rapid detection method of airborne bacterial spores, we examined Bacillus anthracis spores by real-time PCR. One hundred liters of air were trapped on a filter of an air monitor device. After it was suspended in PBS, spores of B. anthracis were artificially added. A new oral penem antibiotic, SY5555, was evaluated for its safety and efficacy in 35 children with various bacterial infections. SY5555 was effective in 100% of scarlet fever, pharyngotonsillitis, pneumonia, otitis media, bacterial diarrhea, urinary tract infections and skin and soft tissue infections. The fluid composition of five epididymal spermatocoeles, one epididymal cyst and a hydrocoele was examined. The fluid obtained from the spermatocoeles was a dilute suspension of mainly immotile spermatozoa.
