OBJECTIVES: Juvenile idiopathic inflammatory myopathies (JIIMs) are a heterogeneous group of systemic autoimmune diseases. Juvenile dermatomyositis (JDM) is the predominant form of JIIMs, and is a rare, chronic autoimmune illness characterised by symmetric, proximal muscle damages and involvement of the skin.
