Self-Supervised Deep Learning Framework for Rician Distribution Based Denoising and Modeling of Multi-b Prostate Diffusion MRI.

PURPOSE: Convolutional neural networks (CNNs) are evaluated for improved and accelerated denoising and Rician bias correction in multi-b DW images with simultaneous signal modeling. METHODS: Prostate diffusion images from 46 individuals acquired at 20 linearly distributed b-values ( b max = 2000 s / mm 2 ) without averaging were used for self-supervised CNN training. CNNs were trained to output model parameter maps, from which DW images and ADC maps were synthesized, and to account for Rician bias. CNN architectures included were: conventional U-Net, Attention U-Net, and Residual Attent

Multi-model study of fast VMAT segment dose calculation with deep learning.

Objective.Deep learning (DL) methods enable photon dose calculation under two main coordinate representations: Beam's Eye View (BEV) and patient coordinates. We evaluate dose calculation accuracy and speed under these coordinate paradigms and with representative DL models within a unified dataset and pipeline, and introduce two lightweight models for fast photon dose calculation.Approach.Planning computed tomography (CT) scans and volumetric modulated arc therapy plans from 24 prostate cancer patients were used. Monte Carlo simulation generated 5940, 540, and 3053 segment doses for training (1

Bidirectional cross-modal attention with adaptive gating for multimodal Alzheimer's disease classification.

Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a neurodegenerative disorder, and mild cognitive impairment (MCI) represents a transitional stage between AD and cognitively normal (CN) individuals. Early diagnosis is clinically important for delaying disease progression. To address the limitations of single-modal approaches and the insufficient modeling of complex cross-modal interactions in existing multimodal fusion methods, this paper proposes a multimodal deep learning (DL) classification framework integrating structural magnetic resonance imaging (sMRI) and clinical features. The framework employs a 3D ResNe

Response prediction of radiotherapy in lung cancer patients using multimodal data.

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE: Radiotherapy (RT) is a critical treatment for lung cancer; however, individual responses vary significantly. Pre-treatment prediction of RT response could guide clinical decision-making and identify patients unlikely to benefit. This study aims to predict RT response in lung cancer patients using multimodal data. METHODS: Patients diagnosed with lung cancer and scheduled to undergo RT at a single institution between May 2022 and October 2024 were selected. Multimodal data, encompassing demographic, radiological, biological, and physiological characteristics, were colle

Intraocular Cytokine Level Prediction from Fundus Images and Optical Coherence Tomography.

The relationship between retinal images and intraocular cytokine profiles remains largely unexplored, and no prior work has systematically compared fundus- and OCT-based deep learning models for cytokine prediction. We aimed to predict intraocular cytokine concentrations using color fundus photographs (CFP) and retinal optical coherence tomography (OCT) with deep learning. Our pipeline consisted of image preprocessing, convolutional neural network-based feature extraction, and regression modeling for each cytokine. Deep learning was implemented using AutoGluon, which automatically explored mul

Deep learning models for deriving optimised measures of fat and muscle mass from MRI.

Fat and muscle mass are potential biomarkers of wellbeing and disease in oncology, but clinical measurement methods vary considerably. Here we evaluate the accuracy, precision and ability to track change for multiple deep learning (DL) models that quantify fat and muscle mass from abdominal MRI. Specifically, subcutaneous fat (SF), intra-abdominal fat (VF), external muscle (EM) and psoas muscle (PM) were evaluated using 15 convolutional neural network (CNN)-based and 4 transformer-based deep learning model architectures. There was negligible difference in the accuracy of human observers and al

Identifying EEG-based neurobehavioral risk markers of gaming addiction using machine learning and iowa gambling task.

Internet Gaming Disorder (IGD), Gaming Disorder (GD), and Internet Addiction represent behavioral patterns with significant psychological and neurological consequences. Affected individuals often disengage from routine activities and exhibit distress upon interruption of gaming, impacting family life and overall well-being. Timely and objective detection methods are essential. This study investigates EEG-based biomarkers in healthy participants, aiming to classify them into two groups based on behavioral patterns observed during the Iowa Gambling Task (IGT). EEG and IGT data were collected sim

MHANet: A hybrid attention mechanism for retinal diseases classification.

With the increase of patients with retinopathy, retinopathy recognition has become a research hotspot. In this article, we describe the etiology and symptoms of three kinds of retinal diseases, including drusen(DRUSEN), choroidal neovascularization(CNV) and diabetic macular edema(DME). In addition, we also propose a hybrid attention mechanism to classify and recognize different types of retinopathy images. In particular, the hybrid attention mechanism proposed in this paper includes parallel spatial attention mechanism and channel attention mechanism. It can extract the key features in the cha

Classification of otoneurological cases according to Bayesian probabilistic models.

We show that Bayesian methods can be efficiently applied to the classification of otoneurological diseases and to assess attribute dependencies. A set of 38 otoneurological attributes was employed in order to use a naive Bayesian probabilistic model and Bayesian networks with different scoring functions for the classification of cases from six otoneurological diseases. Tests were executed on the basis of tenfold crossvalidation. We obtained average sensitivities of 90%, positive predictive values of 92% and accuracies as high as 97%, which is better than our earlier tests with neural networks.

Systematic investigations of the contrast results of histochemical stainings of neurons and glial cells in the human brain by means of image analysis.

The investigation of neurohistological specimens by image analysis has become an important tool in morphological neuroscience. The problems which arise during the processing of these images are non-trivial, especially if a pattern recognition of cells in the imaged tissue is intended. One of the major problems faced concerns the segmentation of structures of interest, whether cells or other histologic structures. The segmentation problem is often the result of an inappropriate staining procedure. For serious image analysis to be performed, the material under investigation must be optimally pre

MR-Based Radiomics for Differential Diagnosis between Cystic Pituitary Adenoma and Rathke Cleft Cyst.

BACKGROUND: It is often tricky to differentiate cystic pituitary adenoma from Rathke cleft cyst with visual inspection because of similar MRI presentations between them. We aimed to design an MR-based radiomics model for improving differential diagnosis between them. METHODS: Conventional diagnostic MRI data (T1-,T2-, and postcontrast T1-weighted MR images) were obtained from 215 pathologically confirmed patients (105 cases with cystic pituitary adenoma and the other 110 cases with Rathke cleft cyst) and were divided into training (n = 172) and test sets (n = 43). MRI radiomics features were

Artificial Intelligence-Aided Lung Ultrasound Detection of Interstitial Lung Disease in Systemic Sclerosis and Inflammatory Myopathy.

OBJECTIVE: Lung ultrasound (LUS) is a sensitive, low-cost, and radiation-free modality for interstitial lung disease (ILD) detection. We previously developed and validated LUS interpretation criteria in systemic sclerosis (SSc) and idiopathic inflammatory myopathy (IIM) showing excellent diagnostic performance and correlations with ILD severity. In this study, we applied deep learning to evaluate whether convolutional neural networks (CNNs) can accurately detect ILD and its severity on LUS. METHODS: Patients with SSc or IIM ± ILD and paired LUS and chest computed tomography (CT) were included
