In a prospective randomized study, 60 patients with unilateral chronic anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) rupture were allocated to surgical reconstruction using an autogenous patellar tendon graft (PT) or a synthetic Leeds-Keio graft (LK). In 1981-89, 9 patients underwent reconstruction for complex injuries in the Achilles tendon region. 10 free microvascular flaps were used: 5 fasciocutaneous and 5 muscle or musculocutaneous flaps. In addition, 4 Achilles tendons and 1 tibial posterior nerve were reconstructed, 1 femoropopliteal bypass was performed, and 6 tibial fractures were treated. "Trigger finger" in childhood has to be delimited from the corresponding disease in adults. The therapy is done by subcutaneous tendovaginal discission as the most optimal and for the child the least of all straining method of treatment. Surgical intervention is recommended to be done at the age of two years.

Twenty-six patients with paralytic pes cavus were managed by early soft tissue correction and tendon transfer. Eighteen had spina bifida, 6 had peroneal muscular atrophy and two had cerebral palsy. The most frequent operations were flexor hallucis longus tenodesis, Girdlestone's flexor to extensor tendon transfer and plantar release. Chronic dislocation of the distal radio-ulnar joint is usually treated conservatively or by resection of the ulnar head (the Darrach procedure). Recently there has emerged a trend towards reconstructive stabilization procedures, based on modifications of old methods. This article describes a stabilization procedure for correction of chronic subluxation of the distal radio-ulnar joint (ulnar-dorsal) using the flexor carpi ulnaris tendon. A series of five patients is presented together with a historical review of the development of reconstructive approaches in this area.

The pathogenesis of the late post-traumatic rupture of the extensor pollicis longus tendon has never been satisfactorily explained. In the present series of fifty-nine ruptures two were partial, making possible an exact localization of the rupture. Microangiographic studies performed on amputated arms showed that this part of the tendon was poorly vascularized. Our study confirms earlier observations that ruptures most commonly occur after undisplaced fractures.
