BACKGROUND & AIMS: JNJ-73763989-based treatments (evaluations ongoing) reduce hepatitis B surface antigen in patients with chronic hepatitis B, but hepatitis B surface antigen seroclearance is rare. OCTOPUS-1, an open-label, randomized phase II study, assessed the efficacy and safety of adding low-dose nivolumab (programmed death 1 inhibitor) to JNJ-73763989 + nucleos(t)ide analog.
METHODS: Hepatitis B surface antigen-negative, virologically suppressed participants with chronic hepatitis B received JNJ-73763989 loading dose (200 mg once weekly) for 4 weeks then every 4 weeks until week 24 wit

BACKGROUND: Studies on transgender women living with HIV (TWH) are scarce in Europe. We aimed to describe TWH and their care continuum during years 1997-2023 in France, focusing on determinants of time to antiretroviral therapy (ART) initiation.
METHODS: In this longitudinal cohort study, we included treatment-naïve TWH with immuno-virological data from the ANRS CO4 French Hospital Database on HIV (FHDH). HIV care continuum outcomes, ART and viral suppression rates, and time intervals between HIV diagnosis, ART initiation, and viral suppression, were analyzed across three calendar periods (19

INTRODUCTION: HIV remains a major global health challenge, with approximately 48.1 million people affected worldwide and nearly 69% residing in sub-Saharan Africa. Regional disparities remain in Ghana, especially in the Upper East Region, which continues to lag behind the national target rates for viral suppression, despite advances made in expanding access to antiretroviral therapy (ART). This study aimed to examine the clinical factors associated with sub-optimal viral suppression to guide efforts to meet the UNAIDS 95 95 95 targets.
METHODS: A cross sectional survey was carried out with 28

BACKGROUND: Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) kills about 830,000 people each year, and most cases arise in chronic viral hepatitis. Better risk markers would let clinicians focus surveillance where it matters. Mac-2 binding protein glycosylation isomer (M2BPGi) is a serum glycobiomarker of liver fibrosis. Several cohort studies tie elevated M2BPGi to HCC. No quantitative synthesis has pooled this evidence across viral etiologies.
METHODS: We searched PubMed/MEDLINE, Embase, the Cochrane Library, Web of Science, and Scopus through April 2026 for longitudinal studies that reported hazard ratios (

BACKGROUND: While maintaining a low HIV prevalence among the general population, Bangladesh is among the few countries in the Asia-Pacific region where the incidence of people living with HIV (PLWH) continues to increase. The National Anti-Retroviral Therapy Program still relies on a 'Test and Treat' strategy and faces challenges in treating drug-resistant HIV. This study aims to assess the HIV viral load and drug resistance mutations among key populations (KPs) under anti-retroviral therapy (ART) in Bangladesh.
METHODS: A total of 110 KPs from 20 drop-in-centers across 11 districts in Bangla

Objective: Some patients receiving entecavir (ETV) or tenofovir alafenamide fumarate (TAF) monotherapy may develop low-level viremia. Therefore, this study aims to observe whether switching to tenofovir alafenamide fumarate (TMF) monotherapy can further improve the efficacy of antiviral therapy in patients with chronic hepatitis B with low-level viremia. Methods: Patients with chronic hepatitis B who received ETV or TAF monotherapy for over one year were chosen. The serum HBV DNA of all patients from initiation to end fluctuated between 20-2 000 IU/ml were observed. All patients who voluntaril

PURPOSE: Children with hematological malignancies and chronic hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection are at a higher risk for rapid progression of liver disease and malignancy relapse due to multiple hepatitis flares and chemotherapy interruption. They are therefore potential candidates for microelimination of HCV infection. This study aimed to assess the effect of acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) on the pharmacokinetic (PK) profile of direct-acting antivirals, namely ledipasvir/sofosbuvir (LDV/SOF) and the SOF major metabolite GS-331007.
METHODS: This was a 24-week, prospective, controlled, ope

BACKGROUND: Hepatitis C virus (HCV) is a leading cause of liver cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma globally. Sofosbuvir/velpatasvir (SOF/VEL) is an effective pan-genotypic direct-acting antiviral combination for treatment of chronic HCV infection. While the addition of ribavirin (RBV) to SOF/VEL improved sustained virological response (SVR12) in genotype 3 (GT3) decompensated cirrhosis patients, the benefits of RBV in GT3 compensated cirrhosis patients receiving SOF/VEL remains unclear.
AIM: To evaluate the efficacy and safety of SOF/VEL, with or without RBV in GT3 compensated cirrhosis p

BACKGROUND: Central nervous system (CNS) symptoms after efavirenz (EFV) treatment in people living with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) could persist and impact their quality of life. We assessed the impact of EFV-based regimen replacement with elvitegravir/cobicistat/emtricitabine/tenofovir alafenamide (E/C/F/TAF), which is considered an alternative option for subjects who do not tolerate EFV. Most specifically, we assessed the safety and the efficacy of E/C/F/TAF and its effects on the participants' neuropsychiatric toxicity symptoms in a real-life setting.

BACKGROUND: Resistance to antiretroviral drugs is a major challenge among Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) positive patients receiving antiretroviral therapy (ART). Mutations that arise as a result of this are diverse across the various drugs, drug classes, drug regimens and subtypes. In Uganda, there is a paucity of information on how these mutations differ among the different drug regimens and the predominant HIV-1 subtypes. The purpose of this study was to determine mutation profile differences between first-line drug regimens: TDF/3TC/EFV and AZT/3TC/EFV and HIV-1 subtypes: A and D in Ug
