Adjuvant bisphosphonate therapy is increasingly used in postmenopausal breast cancer patients. This is based on level-one evidence that bisphosphonates, particularly zoledronic acid, can effectively prevent cancer treatment-induced bone loss in breast cancer patients receiving estradiol-lowering endocrine therapies such as aromatase inhibitors. Furthermore, emerging data from large clinical trials suggest that additional anticancer benefits can be derived due to a positive impact on the bone marrow microenvironment.

OBJECTIVE: This article reviews basic sonographic findings for distinguishing cystic lesions of the breast.
METHODS: We describe sonographic features of simple and complicated cysts in comparison with complex masses and intracystic carcinomas.
RESULTS: We correlate cystic lesion appearances with histologic patterns and illustrate the diagnostic and therapeutic management of cystic breast lesions.
CONCLUSIONS: Sonography is a useful tool in distinguishing simple cysts from complicated cysts and complex masses of the breast.

Breast metastases in cases leukemia are very rare and occur primarily in patients with acute myeloid leukemia. We report the involvement of breast metastases in a 30-year-old woman with acute T cell lymphoblastic leukemia. The patient's mammograms revealed an extremely dense pattern with ill-defined, denser mass-like lesions in both breasts. A bilateral breast ultrasonographic evaluation revealed lobular-shaped and partly ill-defined hypoechoic masses with a multi-septated nodular (mottled) appearance.

Breast cancer (BC) is the first female cancer in France, accounting for 49,240 new cases in 2004. Approximately 80% of those tumors have positive hormone receptors (HR). Tamoxifen was used in four chemoprevention randomized trials, as well as another SERM (Selective Estrogen Receptor Modulation), raloxifen. This review analyses the updated results of these trials.
