Eleven patients with Wegener's granulomatosis were seen at this Institute over a period of 20 years. There were six men and five women. The average age of presentation was 38.3 years, and the mean duration of symptoms was 10.5 months. Constitutional symptoms (82%), cough (82%), ocular symptoms (64%), arthralgias (55%), rhinorrhoea (55%), haemoptysis (45%), nasal granuloma (45%), otorrhoea (36%), sinusitis (36%), skin lesions (27%), and renal failure (27%) were the clinical manifestations encountered. Out of 20 relapses that occurred in patients with Wegener's granulomatosis, nine were provoked by bacterial or viral infection. Seven of these occurred during maintenance treatment in response to infection with common pathogens, and treatment of the infection alone was insufficient to produce remission. Combined treatment with adriamycin, cyclophosphamide and vincristine (ACO) was used in 50 out-patients with histologically verified small-cell bronchial carcinoma. Cyclophosphamide (CTX) is an anticancer drug known to induce immunosuppression. This study investigated the immunomodulatory effects of Sargassum thunbergii glucuronomannan and its oligomers (Gs) in CTX-induced immunosuppressive mice. Various Gs, including G2, G4, G6, G8, and Gn, were administered to the mice. Among these, G6, G8, and Gn notably improved the spleen index, cytokine levels (IL-2, IFN-γ, NO), and antioxidant activity (SOD, GSH-Px). Intussusception is predominantly a pediatric condition, with only about 5 % of all intussusception cases occurring in adults with primary in … ts, ruling out double- or triple-hit lymphoma. Following a right ileo-colectomy, R-CHOP (rituximab, cyclophosphamide, doxorubicin, vincristine, and prednisone) chemotherapy was initiated.
