Recurr … ession led to significant improvement in negative beliefs, image and memory distress and vividness, fear of negative evaluation, and anxiety in feared social situations. This study examines the relationship between adult attachment style and posttraumatic stress symptomatology in a volunteer sample of adults who reported the experience of childhood abuse. Sixty-six individuals completed measures of abuse history, attachment style, and posttraumatic stress symptomatology. This paper presents a case study of a 7-year-old girl with a noncompliant bladder who was trained to self-catheterize using biofeedback and behavior therapy techniques. Initial attempts to train her to self-catheterize were unsuccessful owing to excessive amounts of fear, muscle tension, and refusal. The human startle response is modulated by affective states. The startle response is facilitated in unpleasant, aversive context, such as fear, and reduced during pleasure. This association can be explored by simple technical methods. The modulation of startle is found also in animal.
