UNLABELLED: Cardiac cysts in hydatid cysts, a parasitic disease, are extremely rare, and left-atrial hydatid cysts are even more unusual. Therefore, the authors report herein a rare case of a hydatid cyst in the left atrium. According to them, this is the third documented case of left-atrial hydatid cysts.
PRESENTATION OF CASE: A 25-year-old male presented at the outpatient clinic with atypical chest pain, hacking cough, dyspnoea, nausea, and vomiting for 2 months. Echocardiography showed a left-atrial unilocular, well-delineated mass. The authors also found multiple liver cysts and spleen cy

A 69-year-old female patient visited the previous hospital with anorexia and vomiting. She had weight loss and emaciation and was admitted to the hospital with a duodenal stenosis diagnosis due to superior mesenteric artery syndrome by computed tomography (CT). Conservative treatment with nutritional therapy was performed, but with no improvement;thus, the patient was referred to our hospital. We re-examined the patient to determine the cause of her disease. CT and magnetic resonance imaging findings revealed peritoneal thickening of the pelvic floor, suggesting malignant disease such as perit

Thoracic outlet syndrome (TOS) is a constellation of symptoms that occur due to the compression of neurovascular structures traversing the thoracic outlet. TOS manifests in 3 distinct forms: neurogenic, venous, and arterial. Among these, arterial TOS is the rarest. A 32-year-old man presenting with severe right arm pain was referred for CT angiography. The imaging revealed bilateral cervical ribs, with the right side showing more pronounced development and fusion with the first thoracic rib. At the fusion site of the right cervical rib and the first thoracic rib, a pseudoaneurysm of the right

INTRODUCTION: Perilunate dislocations are uncommon injuries requiring high-energy trauma. They are responsible for serious lesions that can compromise the function of the limb. We report a case of pure bilateral perilunate dislocation in a parachutist while landing.
CASE REPORT: The case involved a 30-year-old military officer of special forces who underwent closed trauma to both wrists following an automatic opening parachute jump. He had first consulted a garrison medical center where a wrist sprain had been treated. Given the persistence of the pain, he was referred to our clinic 2 months

Tumor-induced osteomalacia (TIO) can cause osteomalacia due to excessive production of fibroblast growth factor 23 (FGF23) by the tumor. Since TIO is a very rare disease, it is often misdiagnosed as intervertebral disc herniation, spondyloarthritis, or osteoporosis. We report a 65-year-old man who developed generalized arthralgia and difficulty walking two years ago and was diagnosed with multiple fractures throughout his body. He was initially diagnosed with osteoporosis and was treated with calcitriol. However, he was referred to our hospital since his symptoms did not improve. We diagnosed

A 32-year-old man visited the emergency department complaining of the right scrotal pain, which occurred suddenly during sexual intercourse. Palpation revealed induration and tenderness on the caudal side of the right testis. Ultrasonography revealed a mosaic-like mass on the caudal side of the testis and no difference in blood flow between the right and left testes. The patient underwent a thorough examination the next day. Although the blood test did not show elevated tumor marker levels, testicular MRI revealed a mass with heterogeneous signal in the right scrotum. Subsequently, the patient

A 27-year-old man was referred to our hospital for a detailed examination of abdominal distention, bloody stool, anorectal pain, and weight loss. A colonoscopy revealed a circumferential type 2 tumor at 9 cm from the anal verge which was diagnosed as an adenocarcinoma based on biopsy. Contrast-enhanced CT of the abdomen showed an elevated perineal lipid concentration in the rectum(Ra)which was suspicious for clinical T4a stage, and simultaneous S7/8 liver metastasis. We strongly suspected familial adenomatous polyposis(FAP)because his mother had a past history of total proctocolectomy for FAP.

A 71-year-old woman was referred to our clinic with a 2-month history of pain and exudate from her right first toe. Physical examination revealed a subungual nodule that elevated the nail plate and produced distal onycholysis. We performed onychectomy and removed the nodule. A histopathological specimen from the nodule showed hyperkeratosis and acanthosis in the epidermis, papillomatosis and dilated vessels in the superficial dermis, and aggregation of eccrine glands in the mid-dermis. Based on these findings, a diagnosis of eccrine angiomatous hamartoma (EAH) was made. EAH is a rare cutaneous

A white-eyed blowout fracture is an orbital floor fracture associated with restriction of ocular motility (suggestive of orbital content entrapment) but with minimal or absence of signs of soft tissue trauma. It can lead to significant patient morbidity. This case involved an 8-year-old boy with a white-eyed blowout fracture following facial trauma. He presented with binocular diplopia and a history of recurrent episodes of vomiting after the trauma and was referred to our centre for a suspected head injury. Visual acuity in both eyes was 6/9. Examination showed minimal left periorbital haemat

A 77-year-old woman with asthma, hypothyroidism, irritable bowel syndrome, overactive bladder, and multiple rheumatologic conditions was sent from the clinic to the ED for evaluation of hypoxia. In the clinic, she reported dizziness without shortness of breath and was noted to have perioral cyanosis with an oxygen saturation measured by pulse oximetry (Spo2) of 80%. She was given a nonrebreather mask delivering oxygen at 8 L/min, but the Spo2 remained at 77% to 82%. In the ED, the patient reported intermittent shortness of breath, 2 to 3 days of mild left lower extremity swelling, and a brief

Extraintestinal manifestations are common in patients with chronic inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). Peripheral arthritis occurs in ∼10% of patients with IBD. Treatment of both arthritis and the IBD disease is challenging, and involvement of both the rheumatologist and the gastroenterologist is essential. We present a case with concomitant polyarthritis and ulcerative colitis successfully treated with tofacitinib. A 32-year-old woman with ulcerative colitis currently treated with azathioprine and adalimumab was referred to our rheumatology clinic due to pain and swelling in her knees and finge

Castleman disease (CD) rarely presents with obstructive jaundice, which poses a diagnostic and therapeutic challenge to the management of the disease. A 40-year-old man was referred to our hospital for emergent management of upper abdominal pain. An abdominal mass was removed, and the postoperative pathology showed retroperitoneum CD, which was subsequently managed by adjuvant therapy of combination chemotherapy and steroids. One month later, a biliary metal stent was placed due to the presentation of obstructive jaundice. After ~3 months, the patient experienced another episode of obstructive

A 1.8-year-old maiden Thoroughbred filly, without previous history of mating or reproductive management, was referred for clinical inspection due to the presence of sanguineous vaginal discharge and severe abdominal pain. Transrectal palpation indicated uterine asymmetry, and transrectal ultrasonography revealed a mass near the cervix measuring 8.3 cm in diameter, with heterogeneous echogenicity, a trabeculated center, and a well-defined hyperechoic border. Smaller masses surrounded the larger uterine mass. During the examination, the mare expelled a uterine mass through the vulva. Histologica
