The aim of the study was objective assessment of the results of betahistyne treatment in patients with chronic insufficiency of the vertebrobasilar artery system by means of elektronystagmography (ENG). Recruitable coronary collaterals may appear when spasm suddenly occludes the coronary artery. We report a patient with variant angina who had visible collateral vessels on a control coronary angiogram, despite the presence of normally appearing coronary arteries. These collaterals disappeared after intracoronary administration of nitroglycerin. These findings suggest that recruitable collateral vessels can remain patent long after spontaneous attacks of angina have resolved, and become visible when there is a pressure difference between two small coronary arteries.

A case of priapism following oral intake of papaverine hydrochloride (300 mg) is reported. The priapism persisted after coitus. It resisted conservative treatment, but responded to aspiration of the corpora cavernosa and irrigation with phenylephrine solution. We found no earlier report of priapism induced by oral papaverine. The possible therapeutic role of oral papaverine in impotence merits study.

The objectives of this study were to characterize the time course of development of the renal hyperemia induced by chronic portal vein stenosis (PVS) in the rat, and to assess the possibility that vasoactive blood-borne gastrointestinal peptides mediate the renal hyperemia in established portal hypertension.
