Research on the abnormal psychological evaluation of college students in China based on the knowledge network.

Mental health is directly related to people's physical health, social adaptation and study and work efficiency. Mental health education for college students has also become the focus of education in China. By combining the knowledge network with the psychological scales, this study tried to not only find the most significant abnormal psychology but also evaluate the relationship between different abnormal psychology of college students. The data of this study were the 'The symptom Checklist scale (SCL-90)' questionnaire of the 2017 freshman census of a university in China. The data were statis

Visual and nonvisual variables implicated in monovision wear.

BACKGROUND: Although both psychological and visual factors have been suggested to influence successful monovision contact lens wear, there has not been any documentation to support the relationship between psychological factors and the outcome of monovision wear. In our study, the relative importance of various visual and psychological factors were investigated in an attempt to provide a profile of a successful monovision wearer. METHODS: Participants, who had never worn monovision lenses were fitted with distance contact lenses for an adaptation period of 2 weeks; thereafter, 67 participants

[Cognitive psychotherapy of social phobia and generalized anxiety disorder].

Recent years have seen a better understanding of the psychological changes underlying social phobia and generalized anxiety disorder, and successful methods of cognitive psychotherapy have been developed. Exposure to social situations causing anxiety and cognitive restructuring has diminished social anxiety. An underlying factor in generalized anxiety disorder is, among other things, a difficulty to deal with and tolerate uncertainty. Adaptation of distressing dysfunctional metacognitions has recently emerged alongside conventional cognitive-behavioral treatment modalities.

Adaptation to Stress Switches Stress-Evoked Network Disconnection to a New Forebrain Network State.

Stress adaptation is critical to maintaining mental and physical health. If acute stress is associated with changes in neuronal activity in many brain regions, how neuronal activity itself is coordinated across regions during stress and how neuronal networks are modified during stress adaptation are unknown. In male rats, we recorded local field potentials (LFPs) from stress-responsive regions, including the prelimbic cortex, anterior cingulate cortex, basolateral amygdala, lateral habenula, and dorsal hippocampus, in rats during repeated stress exposure in a within-subjects design. We charact

Coping, social support, and anxiety in people with mast cell disorders.

BACKGROUND: Mast cell disorders (MCDs) are rare, chronic, debilitating diseases with a varied and complex clinical trajectory that creates challenges to physical and mental health. Reliable estimates of the prevalence of anxiety in this population are largely nonexistent. Furthermore, very little is known on how sufferers' coping efforts affect their emotions and adjustment. Because a person with an MCD cannot eliminate the stressors associated with their chronic illness, it is important to understand what helps them adjust. OBJECTIVE: To document the magnitude of anxiety in those with MCD, t

Effects of maltreatment on coping and emotion regulation in childhood and adolescence: A meta-analytic review.

BACKGROUND: Child maltreatment is consistently linked to adverse mental and physical health problems, making the identification of risk and resilience processes crucial for prevention efforts. The ways that individuals cope and regulate emotions in response to stress may buffer against pre-existing risk, while deficits in these processes have the potential to amplify risk. Thus, a candidate mechanism to explain the association between early-life abuse and neglect and later maladjustment is the way in which previously-maltreated youth respond to stress throughout development. OBJECTIVE: The cu

Investigating Key Factors Influencing Behavioral Adaptation In Parkinsonian Subjects Through Neurocomputational Model Of The Basal Ganglia.

A neurocomputational model of the Basal Ganglia and Dopamine dynamics is used to investigate different factors that affect behavioral adaptation and flexibility in healthy and pathological subjects. Results show that high tonic dopamine levels, as those occurring in Parkinsonian subjects under levodopa treatment, can impair flexibility. A high learning rate makes adaptation quicker but also increases the vulnerability towards random punishments. Finally, a high exploration capacity (simulated by increasing the noise level) improves learning in the first epochs of a task but has a detrimental e

Core set of recommendations for patients with ankylosing spondylitis concerning behaviour and environmental adaptations.

Advice concerning behaviour and adaptations of living and working environment is considered an unmet need by patients with ankylosing spondylitis (AS). The aim of this study was to develop a core set of recommendations to be given to patients by their rheumatologists. A systematic literature research of scientific and patient-oriented literature revealed 70 raw recommendations. These recommendations were evaluated and ranked at a meeting of the Ankylosing Spondylitis International Federation (ASIF, 26 participants including 19 patients with AS, 5 rheumatologists and 2 physiotherapists from 13

Physical and rehabilitation medicine (PRM) care pathways: "spinal cord injury".

This document is part of a series of documents designed by the French Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine Society (SOFMER) and the French Federation of PRM (FEDMER). These documents describe the needs for or a specific type of patients; PRM care objectives, human and material resources to be implemented, chronology as well as expected outcomes. "Care pathways in PRM" is a short document designed to enable the reader (physicians, decision-maker, administrator, lawyer or finance manager) to quickly apprehend the needs of these patients and the available therapeutic care structures for proper or

Differences in adjustment among university-educated men and women.

The present study forms a part of a thirteen-year longitudinal study of mental health and examines how university-educated men and women have adapted to an average environment. In basic cross-tabulations, 63 out of the total 356 psychological and sociological characteristics proved to be differently distributed for men and women. On the other hand, there were no quantitative differences in global mental health-illness indicators between the sexes. Fifteen central personality characteristics indicating good adaptation were kept constant. Different scales for men and women were needed for adjust

"It follows me like a shadow." A phenomenological study of fear of disease progression in patients on maintenance hemodialysis.

PURPOSE: While quantitative studies have documented the prevalence and correlates of fear of disease progression (FoP) among patients on maintenance hemodialysis (MHD), little is known about how these patients subjectively experience, cognitively process, and emotionally respond to the threat of disease progression in their daily lives. This phenomenological study aims to explore the multidimensional psychological experiences of FoP in MHD patients, thereby providing a basis for developing targeted nursing interventions. PATIENTS AND METHODS: This study employed a phenomenological qualitative

The Impact of Mothers' Perceptions of Partners' Emotional Distress on Mother-Infant Bonding: Mediating Effects of Maternal Depression and Anxiety.

OBJECTIVES: Having a child is a shared experience where partners influence each other's adaptation to parenthood. While much research focuses on mother-infant bonding, the impact of partners' psychological functioning on this outcome is underexplored. This study investigated how mothers' perceptions of partners' pre- and postnatal depressive and anxiety symptoms affect mother-infant bonding difficulties and whether mothers' own symptoms mediate these relationships. METHOD: A sample of 525 Portuguese women (M age = 32.85, SD = 5.13) with infants < 24 months completed an online survey from Febr

Legitimising fatigue after breast-cancer treatment.

This study aimed to explore the experience of women living with fatigue following chemotherapy for breast cancer. Six focus groups were conducted (n=40); all participants had taken part in a multi-site acupuncture trial. There were three to seven people per focus group. Additionally, two people attended one-to-one interviews and four people provided written responses to the trigger questions. The audiotapes from these sessions were transcribed and analysed using a thematic approach. Participants raised concerns about fatigue possibly being a symptom of the cancer coming back or a sign of senil

The psychological resilience of teenagers in terms of their everyday emotional balance and the impact of emotion regulation strategies.

OBJECTIVE: Adolescents are also more vulnerable to the effects of everyday life stimuli and exhibit a range of negative emotional states that can develop into severe affective disorders. However, Psychological resilience maybe enable the prevention of emotional problems associated with daily stress rather than intervening treating the problem after it has occurred. METHODS: A total of 104 individuals (54 participants in the high psychological resilience group and 50 participants in the low psychological resilience group) were first identified. Then, the 8-day experiential sampling method was

Support needs and acceptability of psychological and peer consultation: attitudes of 108 women who had undergone or were considering prophylactic mastectomy.

OBJECTIVE: Prophylactic mastectomy (PM) offers 90% or greater reduction in risk of breast cancer to women at increased hereditary risk. Nonetheless, acceptance in North America is low (0-27%) and 25-50% of women electing surgery report psychological distress and/or difficulty adapting following PM. Most women also report reduced cancer worry postoperatively. Psychological consultation to aid decision-making and post-surgical coping is not routinely offered. This retrospective, cross-sectional study explored interest in and acceptability of psychological consultation for issues related to PM am

Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder and Alcohol Consumption: Biological Mechanisms of Stress Resilience to Subsequent Alcohol Consumption.

PURPOSE: Resilience is crucial in mitigating the risk of stress-related health issues. Although many people can adapt to adverse stress or trauma, stress exposure can increase the risk of health issues, including obesity, cardiovascular disease, and digestive illnesses. Some individuals may even develop debilitating conditions, such as post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). People with PTSD often struggle to adapt, sometimes turning to alcohol to cope, which can lead to alcohol use disorder (AUD), characterized by excessive alcohol-seeking and dependence. Understanding the biological underpinn
