This study examines the histological effects of different sizes of polyethylene particles implanted into the rabbit tibia. Seventeen mature New Zealand white female rabbits were allocated into three groups. Calcium pyrophosphate deposition (CPPD) disease is an inflammatory arthritis prevalent in elderly individuals. Spinal CPPD is uncommon, and presentation can vary widely with common clinical and radiographic mimics.
