Seed Priming with Antagonistic Bacteria for Managing Fusarium Crown and Root Rot in Durum Wheat.

Durum wheat is increasingly threatened by Fusarium diseases, including Fusarium crown rot (FCR) and Fusarium root rot (FRR), caused primarily by Fusarium culmorum, F. graminearum, and F. pseudograminearum. These pathogens reduce yield by causing pre- and postemergence damping-off and inducing symptoms including stem and root browning, as well as severe growth stunting. Traditional control methods, including agronomic practices and seed treatments with fungicides, face limitations because of pathogen resistance and environmental concerns, emphasizing the need for sustainable, microbiologically

Management of a Complicated Crown-Root Fracture by Surgical Extrusion: A Two-Year Follow-Up.

Complicated crown-root fractures (CRFs) in the anterior region demonstrate significant restorative and esthetic challenges, particularly when the fracture extends subgingivally. Surgical extrusion is a conservative treatment option that repositions the tooth coronally, facilitating restoration while preserving periodontal health. This case report describes the management of a complicated CRF using a minimally traumatic surgical extrusion technique followed by endodontic and restorative rehabilitation. The two-year follow-up demonstrates favorable periodontal healing, tooth stability, and succe

Guiding Esthetic Crown Lengthening: A CBCT-Based Modified Classification of Altered Passive Eruption.

Background: Altered passive eruption (APE) is one of the etiological factors associated with excessive gingival display and is commonly treated with esthetic crown lengthening (ECL). However, existing classification systems provide limited guidance for selecting appropriate treatment approaches. Objectives: The aim of this study was to evaluate (1) the expected outcome of ECL in eliminating unattractive excessive gingival display (4 mm) based on digital smile assessment and (2) the distribution of teeth and patients according to the modified APE classification. Methods: Forty-two Thai patients

The influence of cavity design on the mechanical behavior of endo-crown restorations: an ex-vivo study.

BACKGROUND: Root canal-treated teeth often exhibit significant structural loss, necessitating effective and conservative restorative techniques. The present study aimed to assess the effect of cavity design on the fracture resistance of endo-crown restorations. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Thirty human mandibular first molars were carefully chosen based on a sample size estimation. All teeth underwent root canal treatment and were allocated into three groups (n = 10 each) according to the cavity design; conventional cavity design (group 1), conventional cavity design with a root canal extension (gr

Reattachment or Restoration? Fracture Resistance of Uncomplicated Crown Fractures Using Various Intermediate Materials.

This study aimed to evaluate the fracture resistance of different bonding materials used in fragment reattachment for uncomplicated crown fractures, compared to direct composite resin restoration. Sixty human maxillary incisors were divided into five groups (n = 12): G1, control; G2, direct composite resin; G3, flowable composite; G4, preheated composite; G5, self-adhesive resin cement. After simulated fractures and thermocycling, fracture resistance was tested using a universal machine. Data were analysed with one-way ANOVA and Tukey's test (α = 0.05). G1 showed the highest resistance (75.7 ±

Paleoneurology of stem palaeognaths clarifies the plesiomorphic condition of the crown bird central nervous system.

Lithornithidae, an assemblage of volant Palaeogene fossil birds, provide our clearest insights into the early evolutionary history of Palaeognathae, the clade that today includes the flightless ratites and volant tinamous. The neotype specimen of Lithornis vulturinus, from the early Eocene (approximately 53 million years ago) of Europe, includes a partial neurocranium that has never been thoroughly investigated. Here, we describe these cranial remains including the nearly complete digital endocasts of the brain and bony labyrinth. The telencephalon of Lithornis is expanded and its optic lobes

Preclinical evaluation of [225Ac]Ac-crown-TATE - An alpha-emitting radiopharmaceutical for neuroendocrine tumors.

BACKGROUND: Targeted alpha therapy (TAT) of somatostatin receptor-2 (SSTR2) positive neuroendocrine tumors (NETs) involving Ac-225 ([225Ac]Ac-DOTA-TATE) has previously demonstrated improved therapeutic efficacy over conventional beta particle-emitting peptide receptor radionuclide therapy agents. DOTA-TATE requires harsh radiolabeling conditions for chelation of [225Ac]Ac3+, which can limit the achievable molar activities and thus therapeutic efficacy of such TAT treatments. Macropa-TATE was recently highlighted as a potential alternative to DOTA-TATE, owing to the mild radiolabeling condition

Acute Neck Pain from Crowned Dens Syndrome: A Case Report and Clinical Insights.

BACKGROUND Crowned dens syndrome (CDS) is a rare condition characterized by deposition of calcium pyrophosphate crystals on the odontoid process of the second cervical vertebra, forming a calcified 'crown', with neck pain being a common symptom. The disorder exhibits unique clinical and radiological features, resembling manifestations of meningitis, such as acute headaches and cervical stiffness. There are few case reports and case series related to CDS. Patients generally respond well to treatment with nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), although there is a certain rate of recurren

Repair of an Extensive External Cervical Resorption Lesion Using Intentional Replantation with Crown Rotation.

Treatment of large external cervical resorption (ECR) lesions may be compromised, rendering the tooth unrestorable. Intentional replantation is a potential treatment option depending on the site and extent of ECR. We present a case of a large ECR successfully managed with intentional replantation with rotation of the tooth. The female patient consulted the hospital clinic, with an extensive palatal ECR on the maxillary lateral incisor. Routine planar radiographs and cone-beam computed tomography demonstrated a larger palatal than the ECR lesion (Heithersay Class III and Patel's Class 2Bp) not

Clinical implications of crown-rump length discordance at 11 to 14 weeks in dichorionic twins.

BACKGROUND: Crown-rump length discordance, defined as ≥10% discordance, has been investigated as an early sonographic marker of subsequent growth abnormalities and is associated with an increased risk of fetal loss in twin pregnancies. Previous studies have not investigated the prevalence of fetal aneuploidy or structural anomalies in twins with discordance or the independent association of crown-rump length discordance with adverse perinatal outcomes. Moreover, data are limited on cell-free DNA screening for aneuploidy in dichorionic twins with discordance. OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to eva

Regressive changes of crown-root morphology and their volumetric segmentation for adult dental age estimation.

Cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) enables the assessment of regressive morphological changes in teeth, which can be used to predict chronological age (CA) in adults. As each tooth region is known to have different correlations with CA, this study aimed to segment and quantify the sectional volumes of the tooth crown and root from CBCT scans to test their correlations with the chronological age (CA). Seventy-five CBCT scans from individuals with age between 20 and 60 years were collected retrospectively from an existing database. A total of 192 intact maxillary anterior teeth fulfilled the e

The impact of molecular data on the phylogenetic position of the putative oldest crown crocodilian and the age of the clade.

The use of molecular data for living groups is vital for interpreting fossils, especially when morphology-only analyses retrieve problematic phylogenies for living forms. These topological discrepancies impact on the inferred phylogenetic position of many fossil taxa. In Crocodylia, morphology-based phylogenetic inferences differ fundamentally in placing Gavialis basal to all other living forms, whereas molecular data consistently unite it with crocodylids. The Cenomanian Portugalosuchus azenhae was recently described as the oldest crown crocodilian, with affinities to Gavialis, based on morph

Induced Near-Infrared Emission and Controlled Photooxidation based on Sulfonated Crown Ether in Water.

Regulation of physio-chemical properties and reaction activities via noncovalent methodology has become one of increasingly significant topics in supramolecular chemistry and showed inventive applications in miscellaneous fields. Herein, we demonstrate that sulfonated crown ether can form very stable host-guest complexes with a series of push-pull-type photosensitizers, eventually leading to the dramatic fluorescence enhancement in visible and near-infrared regions. Meanwhile, severe suppression in singlet oxygen (1 O2 ) production is found, mainly due to the higher energy barriers between the
