Exploring the relationship between social media use, eating behaviors, and depression in young women: a machine learning-based cross-sectional study.

BACKGROUND: The increasing prevalence of social media use among young adults has raised concerns regarding its potential associations with mental health and eating behaviors. The aim of this study was to investigate the associations between social media use, eating behaviors, and depressive symptoms among young women and to evaluate the performance of machine learning algorithms in modeling these cross-sectional associations compared with conventional regression approaches. METHODS: A cross-sectional study was conducted among young women aged 18-34 years (n = 4,692) using a multi-site, face-t

Digital engagement profiles and binge eating symptoms in adolescents: A person-centred, longitudinal analysis.

BACKGROUND: Binge eating symptoms emerge in early adolescence and are clinically meaningful below diagnostic thresholds. Digital media engagement may be relevant, yet most studies rely on aggregate screen time and rarely separate patterns of use from addiction-like features. This study tested whether screen use profiles and social media addiction risk were associated with binge eating symptom indicators in a large longitudinal cohort. METHODS: Data were drawn from the Adolescent Brain Cognitive Development (ABCD) Study at Time 3 (T3; n = 10,465; ages 10-13 years) and Time 5 (T5; n = 9257; age…

Reimbursement practices for use of digital devices in atrial fibrillation and other arrhythmias: a European Heart Rhythm Association survey.

Since digital devices are increasingly used in cardiology for assessing cardiac rhythm and detecting arrhythmias, especially atrial fibrillation (AF), our aim was to evaluate the expectations and opinions of healthcare professionals in Europe on reimbursement policies for the use of digital devices (including wearables) in AF and other arrhythmias. An anonymous survey was proposed through announcements on the European Heart Rhythm Association website, social media channels, and mail newsletter. Two hundred and seventeen healthcare professionals participated in the survey: 32.7%, reported regul

Sustainability of contrast-enhanced breast imaging: a review of current evidence.

Breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed malignancy among women worldwide. Contrast-enhanced imaging is central to diagnosis, staging, and treatment monitoring, yet its increasing use raises important environmental concerns. This review critically compares the sustainability of contrast-enhanced mammography (CEM) and breast magnetic resonance imaging (bMRI), focusing on contrast medium ecotoxicity, energy consumption, data storage, digital infrastructure, patient access, and travel-related emissions. Both iodinated and gadolinium-based contrast media persist in aquatic environments and con

[Angiography and digital subtraction angiography].

In pediatrics angiography is a method that is used relatively rarely. During the last few years the introduction of nonionic contrast media has led to considerable progress in the field of conventional angiography since these contrast media are tolerated much better than the ionic ones. Also in the field of catheter techniques the introduction of new catheters has led to considerable progress. The new catheters are characterized by very thin walls and wide lumina which allow a high flow of contrast media. Their use in children has considerably reduced local complications at the puncture site.

Understanding the psychological drivers of online self-presentation: a survey study on social media exposure, social comparison, social network type and FOMO.

BACKGROUND: Social media users can choose how to project their image to make a positive impression on others through social media. Although online self-presentation desire is an emerging phenomenon that engages with the users' behavior on social media, empirical research and theoretical models on the topic are scarce. This study employs social comparison theory and the fear of missing out as mediators and social network type as a moderator to elucidate the effects of social media exposure on online self-presentation desire. METHODS: A quantitative survey was conducted among 367 social media u
