[Increased nervous excitability, anxiety, and sleep disorders in childhood - the role of multicomponent low-dose medications].

Anxiety, emotional excitability, and sleep disturbances are common in pediatric populations, often emerging during stressful periods such as chronic family conflict, parental divorce, initial socialization in kindergarten, and the beginning of formal schooling. These conditions are frequently linked to autonomic nervous system (ANS) dysfunction. During such periods, nervous system instability impairs stress adaptation and may lead to neurotic reactions. Chronic stress and anxiety can trigger neuroinflammatory processes, which further intensify anxiety and ANS dysfunction. Clinically, these mec…

When family betrays: kinship and infidelity in Turkish prime-time series.

This study explored how infidelity is represented in popular Turkish television dramas, focusing particularly on its prevalence within famil … ers, but the distribution between female and male characters was balanced. Direct and indirect associations between childhood adversity and emotional and behavioral problems at age 14: A network analytical approach.

We applied network analysis combined with community detection algorithms to examine how adverse experiences (AEs) (e.g., abuse, bullying victimization, financial difficulties) are, individually and conjunctively, associated with emotional and behavioral problems at age fourteen in the Dutch TRacking Adolescents' Individual Lives Survey (TRAILS, N = 1880, 52.2% female). We found that bullying victimization, peer rejection, parental mental health problems, emotional abuse, and sexual abuse were the only AEs directly contributing to risk of emotional problems. Parental divorce and emotional abuse…

Excessive psychological stress preceding the onset of idiopathic cervical dystonia.

Idiopathic cervical dystonia (ICD) is the largest subgroup of dystonia. Psychological stress as a triggering factor has long been discussed, but detailed descriptions are lacking. We report on a group of 13 patients with ICD and preceding excessive psychological stress (age at ICD onset 39.0 ± 13.9 years, 7 females, 6 males). The observation period was 7.8 ± 5.0 years. Excessive psychological stress included partner conflicts (divorce and separation, domestic violence), special familial burdens, legal disputes and migration. It started 8.3 ± 3.9 months before ICD onset. In 85% of our patients …
