Midshaft fractures of the clavicle are mostly treated conservatively. For the few cases in which stabilisation is needed, open reduction and plate fixation is the standard procedure. Reduction of a large rectal prolapse may be difficult because of significant edema that collects in the rectal tissues. If reduction is unsuccessful, an emergent laparotomy and internal reduction is required. A wide elastic wrap applied around the prolapsed rectum provides progressive compression, which reduces the amount of edema, allowing subsequent manual reduction. This prospective study investigated medium-term outcomes for 51 children treated from 1997 to 2001 for displaced diaphyseal forearm fractures with elastic stable intramedullary nailing. Granuloma annulare (GA) is a condition characterized by the presence of palisading granulomas usually in the dermis. This study was designed to evaluate the routine use of a gum elastic bougie for tracheal intubation. The median time to intubation with the gum elastic bougie while simulating an 'epiglottis only' view was only 10 s longer than the time taken during conventional intubation with an optimum view.
