An oral pyogenic granuloma can develop during or just after the first trimester of pregnancy. Usually, an oral pyogenic granuloma is an early, slow-growing mass that, on excision, does not leave a large defect in the periodontium that requires surgical repair. This article presents an unusual case of a very late, rapidly growing, large tumor that developed as a complication of pregnancy and an undiagnosed isolated area of periodontal disease.

Pyogenic granuloma (PG), also known as lobular capillary hemangioma, is extremely rare following burn injuries, and there is no conclusive theory about its pathogenesis and best treatment option. Here we report a brief case of a 2-year-old child with a third-degree burn who developed disseminated pyogenic granuloma and was successfully treated with systemic corticosteroid.

Background: Pyogenic granuloma (PG) is an uncommon vascular proliferation that, when it arises intraorally, is predominantly gingival; buccal mucosal involvement is rare. Extragingival PG in elderly patients may mimic malignant vascular tumors. Methods: We report a 69-year-old woman with a 1.0 cm ulcerated mass of the left lower buccal mucosa that enlarged after biting trauma. The excised lesion was examined histopathologically and by immunohistochemistry for CD31, CD34, D2-40, S100, human herpesvirus 8 (HHV-8), Ki-67, and p53. Reports of buccal mucosal PG published up to December 2025 were re

An unusual clinical presentation of any pathology prompts a diagnostic dilemma, which further brings challenges in treatment planning. Pyogenic granuloma (microscopically lobular capillary haemangioma) is a benign vascular tumour that commonly involves the skin and mucous membranes and usually manifests as a solitary papule with a friable pedunculated base. Rapid exophytic growth and an ulcerated surface with bleeding on provocation are characteristic, with a gingival predominance for the site. This case report aims to elaborate on an unusual clinical presentation of oral pyogenic granuloma in

OBJECTIVES: Lobular capillary hemangioma (LCH) rarely involves the gastrointestinal (GI) tract. This study describes clinicopathologic features of LCH in a cohort of GI cases.
METHODS: We defined lobular capillary hemangioma as "a proliferation of capillary-sized blood vessels arranged at least focally in a lobular configuration," searched departmental archives for cases, and recorded clinicopathologic findings.
RESULTS: We identified 34 GI tract LCHs from 16 men and 10 women; 4 patients had multiple lesions. Mean age was 64 years. Cases arose in the esophagus (n = 7), stomach (n = 3), small

Pyogenic granuloma (PG) is a benign vascular lesion of the skin and mucous membranes, presenting as a solitary, red, pedunculated papule that bleeds easily and which appears to be a reactive vascular proliferation to minor injury. These lesions are more common in children and are mostly seen in exposed sites. Multiple disseminated PG is a rare condition. This report describes an infant with multiple, disseminated, pyogenic granulomas following burns from boiling milk. We reviewed literature published in English and found 9 cases. Six cases were provoked by hot milk, 2 by hot water, while the c

PURPOSE: Pyogenic granuloma is a relatively rare hyperplastic lesion of the oral tissues. Clinically it is heterogeneous and can be similar to malignant epithelial and mesenchymal neoplasms. The treatment of choice is the surgical excision of the lesion. This approach often results in unpleasant gingival defects, especially when the pyogenic granuloma is located in the esthetic zone.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: This report describes the clinical and histological findings of pyogenic granuloma diagnosed in the maxilla of a 24-year-old female, as well as the successful treatment of the mucogingival

Although pyogenic granulomas are often clinically associated with foreign bodies or recurrent traumatic injury, this association is not well documented. We report a case of a recurrent, intractable pyogenic granuloma due to a missed foreign body. An extensive search retrieved no previous literature reporting this association. This lack of evidence bases may hinder the hand surgeon from extending the wound incision and thorough exploration. Recurrent pyogenic granulomas should lead the hand surgeon to entertain the possibility of a missed foreign body.

PURPOSE: We report 5 unusual cases of exposed hydroxyapatite orbital implants that presented as pyogenic granulomas. We propose pathogenesis and histopathologic correlations.
METHODS: A clinicopathologic study of 5 patients with hydroxyapatite implants who presented with pyogenic granuloma.
RESULTS: Pyogenic granulomas were detected 1.5 to 30 months after implantation in 5 patients. The lesions were multiple but were not related to the wound margin at the exposed area and were not covered by the surface epithelium in most instances. Exposure defects were detected in all patients at the time

Osteonecrosis of the femoral head was produced in rats by cutting the ligamentum teres and incising the cervical periosteum. As of the second postoperative week, fibrous tissue pervaded the necrotic epiphyses, macrophages and osteoclasts removed the debris, osteoblasts deposited lamellar-fibred and woven-fibred intramembranous bone, and remodeling began. In 16% of the rats killed during the 2nd postoperative week, the epiphyses contained big fragments of necrotic bone enclosed by densely packed, capillary-sized vessels. Ingrowth of this hypervascularized, pyogenic granuloma-like tissue is pres

A case of gigantic pyogenic granuloma with three recurrences in the lower anterior gingiva is presented. Surgical wide excision of the lesion is the treatment of choice. The tumour must be excised down to the periosteum and the irritants around it removed to avoid recurrence. A contributing factor to the gigantic lesion is hormonal changes during pregnancy. Long-term review for 18 months after the third surgery showed no evidence of recurrence at the surgical site.

Pyogenic granuloma (PG) is a benign vascular lesion of the oral mucosa whose progression is strongly linked to pregnancy, due to increased hormone levels (estrogen and progesterone), which promote an exacerbated inflammatory response. There is controversy regarding the appropriate timing of PG treatment during pregnancy. This clinical case describes a 25-year-old patient, 12 weeks into her pregnancy, who presented with an exophytic, oval, fibrous lesion located on the interproximal gingiva between teeth 32 and 33. Treatment included an initial phase of scaling, coronal and root planing, and or

Pyogenic granuloma (lobular capillary haemangioma) is a benign vascular lesion that may arise following trauma, inflammation, or surgery. In oculoplastic practice, it represents a recognised but likely underreported postoperative complication. We present a case of recurrent pyogenic granuloma arising from a posterior lamellar defect following eyelid reconstruction using a Hughes flap, highlighting key clinical features and management considerations. A systematic review of the literature was also performed to contextualise this case, identifying 14 studies comprising 498 cases. Lesions typicall
